Problem with lens coverage for 4x5 enlarger

Hello everyone, I recently purchased a Beseler 45mx locally and got a Schneider 150mm lens and lens board from a member of the forum. Today I assambled the whole thing and put a negative in the carrier. When I project the image on the baseboard the edges of the negative are cut off looking like the lens does not have a large enough "image circle" to cover the whole negative. The lens is mounted on a lens board that has what looks like a 2 cm extension.

Is this the correct focal length lens for enlarging 4x5? What am I doing wrong. Sorry for the crummy Iphone pictures.

I use a Schneider Componon 150mm / f5.6 lens (albeit a late model) with a flat lens board on a De Vere 504 enlarger and this covers 5 x 4" very well. As far as I can remember, all of the 150mm lenses (and some 135mm lenses) covered 5 x 4". I would suspect the problem is the extended lens board. This you can easily check by buying a small off-cut of thin Plywood and making your own lens board (really easy to do).

I think your condensers are not positioned correctly for 4x5. If they are set up for 35 mm, that will cause vignetting. There should be instructions on the enlarger for repositioning / removing the condenser?

It's either the extended lens board or the condensers. I have a Beseler 45MX and do not need/use an extended board. The top section of the beast is where the condensers are and there's a gauge on the right that indicates whether it's in the right spot. I know that little piece of metal is frequently missing. I took a photo of mine for someone else here awhile back - I'll go look and see if I can find it.

Yup! Just rack the condensers down closer to the negative. If you put the carrier in w/o neg. you will see the light cone change size as you do so. I'm using one of these in a university darkroom at the moment. I'm used to Omega D2's so it took me a little time to catch on as well.
