i can rule out a development issue.
the lines i get on my negs are razor sharp and super thin, and long. like a scratch from a needle.
development is top ( pyrocat and foma.. its a great combination!)

You have not only the underdeveloped line, you have a wider overdeveloped part more inside. Most likely, this ist an effect of too less agitation.

I recommend try next continuous agitation. The developing time has to be shortened by around 20%.

I will never understand why one has to waste rolls with strange concotions while there's a pletora of tried and true developers that have withstood the tests of generations of photographers...

If your camera employs rollers to guide the film at the emulsion side, check whether these have an immaculate surface and, more important, whether they are rolling freely.

Rest assured; It is a matter of taste, coffee or tea with pastries ... , but there is no serious business to consider behind. So, your understanding is on the right track.

This is a question I also asked myself and the best I came up with was that people thought that film develops where about to become extinct and so some bright sparks decided to look at a methods to make your own developers from every day household items, I know photographers that have great results with the coffee method but for me there is so many variables and film developer never did disappear and works out just as cheap....But the coffee can and does produce some great results.
