I have been scanning some of my old negatives, and ran into this one:

F0140001.jpg

There are little white specks all over it, not sure if it's a scanning issue, or a problem with the negative:

The image was shot in December of 1977 on Kodak 5043 film, with a Zenit E camera, scanned now using an Epson 2480 flatbed scanner, using Xsane running on Linux as the driver.

So, any idea what could cause this kind of problem or is the the negative that has an issue?

Hello Wogster,

I was recently some getting little white specs too whilst using an Epson !

Turned out to be just plain old dust particles ! problem was solved by purchasing, a large blower brush with a directional nozzle!

Kind Regards,
Richard

Yep, Check the film first and the scanner next...
