I bought a Mamiya C330f a few years ago, used it for a while, and then it gathered dust. I pulled it off the shelf again the other day and went to put some film in it. Iput in the new roll, attach it to the take-up spool, wind on until the arrow on the backing paper lines up with the small red indicators and then close the back of the camera.
When I then wind on with the film wind crank to get to the first frame, the crank does not reach a stop point. I keep winding, expecting the camera to lock at the position to take frame one, but instead doesn’t stop until I reach the end of the roll. I’m sure I’m doing it correctly. I’ve checked that the lens is mounted properly. The camera is set to ‘single’, not ‘multi’ exposure. The lens change dial is set to ‘lock’, so I can’t see what else I might be missing. I’ve checked the manual but I cant see anything in it that I may be missing. It doesn’t have any problem page.
Is there anyone who might have any suggestions as to something I may be missing or is it a case of send it for repairs. I’ve been a photo nerd for over 40 years so I like to think that I’m not clueless and have a good idea of what I’m at but this has me stumped. Looking forward to some help please.

Make sure you have both top cornered of the back pushed in all the way. I’ve experienced this before.

+1 - the frame counter thinks that the back is still open.
The light seal foam might be overly firm due to the non-use, so it might take a more firm application of pressure. In my camera, it is the top right corner that is more likely to require an extra little push.

Thanks mweintraub and also also to Matt, that did the trick so I’m back in action. Looking at the seal around the edges, it definitely wasn’t the hardening of the seal. The seal actually looks to be disintegrating so I need to sort that out. I’m hoping that I’ll be able to buy replacement foam on eBay, there’s nowhere here in Ireland to get that kind of work done (that I’m aware of).
Thanks for the help.

Hi. Thanks for that. I looked up some stuff on eBay and while they are probably ok, you never really know until you get it if it’s good enough. At least now I know this one has been tested. Thanks for the help, David
