I have a 6x6 carrier. I've printed some 6x45s using it with a 75mm lens and seems to be sharp through out. any concerns with this type of set up? do i need a dedicated 6x45 carrier? thanks.

You can hunt for a 6x4.5 carrier if you want, but if you're happy with the results now, who cares.

Just use a bit of the black plastic from a box of paper to mask off the extra negative and cut down on excess flare. I also use large pieces of the plastic to mask paper when I'm cropping a negative and it overlaps the blades on the easel.

A 6x6 carrier will usually work reasonably well, although if you are unfortunate to have a single, cut 6x4.5 negative it will be hard to keep it flat enough in the carrier.

If you are making very high magnification enlargements, it will be more important to have the negative centred in the carrier.

Extra space around the image area adds flare to the process. It helps if you can mask that out.
