3. Unmounted prints only (due to postage costs)
4. You tell us about making the print (this is also a learning tool) and if you desire. the image taking (locations don't need to be divulged). 'Proforma' will be available to make this easier

Howdy,

I would like to ask some quick questions before I say yay or nay.

How many prints will we need to produce?

Would it be possible to share postage (the reason I ask this is I want to see if another APUG member close to me would be interested).

This would be a good challenge for me (& probably end up being cheaper then the postcard exchange) as I could learn a lot, but I must admit that I am probably a bit apprehensive sending stuff from 35mm.

Cheers

Nothing wrong with printing from 35mm. Maximum size here is going to be 8x10 anyway - 35mm should look good.

I think we should split into two groups based on these numbers. Anyone want to comment on this aspect?

Although you could do this if you can find someone nearby who wants to participate, because the prints are unmounted, actual postage costs should be reasonable. You should be able to use the online AustPost calculator to work this out. Use postcard 3000 as the destination to see how much it should be.

yes, I'd imagine it will be cheaper than the postcard exchange (depending on how many you send of course). 35mm should be fine, just don't crop too much!

I would be all for this. Right now it would seem as if there would be two groups of a manageable size. Even if we get another one (or few) more wishing to participate.

I have not said thanks yet Nige. So thanks, and also to you too Tim

in regard to how much it will cost, you'll need 2 x pre-paid C4 envelopes from aust post, they are $2.50 each to anywhere in Australia, so postage will cost you $5 max. Alternatively you can work out the exact postage, my post code is 3040. In fact if you live close enough you could even hand deliver it.

Just make sure you post me a self-addressed envelope with the correct return postage, otherwise you won't get any prints back

Once sign-up is complete and we've worked out the groups, I'll PM everyone my address. Doing it this way avoids having to post individual prints.

G'dayTim,

I'm a 3040 dweller too (at the moment), so to drop them off to you would be ideal, if yo udon't mind of course! Thanks for being the middle man in all this too!

Hey, Tim, we must nearly be neighbours!

Thanks Tim and Nige for making this happen. For those who don't know, Nige very successfully started and efficiently organised the APUG Postcard Exchange for quite some time.

A few of us will be dropping our prints off to Tim... at a MCC Traditional Darkroom Printmakers Group evening probably! Costs me more than $5 to drive there though!!

I reckon it would be nicer to get 18 or 20 prints rather than only 9 or 10, so I would vote for us all staying as one group if poss. I am of course happy to go with whatever the consensus is...
Ian
p.s. thanks Nige and Tim for organising!

I agree with Ian, but understand that 18 or 20 prints may be too many for some. Maybe there is a way to opt for either the full group or a mini-group?

I'd like to opt for the full group too - I've printed for the postcard exchange, and really once you've got your exposure for 10 prints, 20 isnt that much more out of your day. 60-odd is about the breaking point...
However, I understand that things could quickly get very complicated if we have both big and small groups.

For me, I don't want to rock the boat, so I will go with the flow.

Hoffy, I think there may still be a way for people to opt into a smaller group, so don't worry about rocking the boat (except now I'm probably rocking the boat by suggesting this anyway  ).

count me in  YAY!!!!
