I have an amazing Praktica in amazing working condition apart from the battery. I can remove the battery cover with no issue. But the little piece of metal that contacts the battery broke and fell into the camera. It had corroded and snapped. Is this something I can repair. Or do I have to say goodbye

Welcome aboard @Mr enzo !

If this were my camera, I'd unscrew the bottom plate and shake the camera a bit until the little battery lug falls out. Then see if there's a way to easily lift the circuit board it was attached to out of the camera and re-attach it. It's probably a failed solder joint that made the lug dislocate.

That metal contact is intact. Just clean the corrosion off with some white vinegar and follow with distilled water and buy a PX625A battery.

Even if you can't repair it, the camera can still be used without the lightmeter working.
Just use a handheld meter or use "sunny 16" rule.
