Posted Instax photo on FB, got another convert

I bought an Instax Wide 210 at a local camera show from a local used shop in town. I've been wanting one for a while and the price was right. I posted a sample photo on thefacebook of my son that I took as a test. The girl who cuts my hair loved it and went nuts because she wanted one. I told her the model, but she's settling on the Mini in blue (model 8?). WOOT. I've invited her to the Instant Film Society thefacebook page. My job of spreading film love for yesterday was done. On to today!

I am gobsmacked. I never heard of such a thing. Very clever. The thing is much more advanced and sophisticated than d*g*t*l -- you get an instant print not just an ephemeral electronic teenie tiny image on the back of the box which you can't do anything with unless you plug it into something else. Oh, the bother. Wide angle is a great notion for this type of device. Small rooms, big groups et al. Affordable, too.

Congrats another one won over to the great world of analogue instant photography. Instant film is still faster than any digital camera if you are after a print.

they're addicting and everybody loves them. The film speed is iso 800 and it's nice and contrasty. Unlike polaroid, both mini and wide versions are easy to find in my country. The only real problem is that the cameras are pretty much all automatic. I actually disassembled one to learn how it works, I'm halfway through with adapting it as a back for my Century Graphic.

I've been keeping it in my computer bag that I bring to work and the big man over our group brought in his young kids so I pulled it out and took their photo. Their kids seemed to be in random-people-social overload, so they didn't seem to amused, but they might enjoy it later. The wife, whom also works in the building, dabbles in photography asked if they still made film (typical question) and said she has some Polaroid cameras herself. I told her about IP. Maybe she has a peel apart body, which is much cheaper.
