I've received 22 cards to date from these photographers:

(...)

A BIG thank you to all of you!

Henning, can you please check the stack of cards again, carefully? I did send you a postcard somewhere around half January; yet, I was not mentioned as one of the 22. If you still haven't received my card, I guess it's time to send it again. So, let me know!

Hungry like the wolf

The latest arrivals are........

Saluhallen by Henning-nicely observed and love the paper too. I'm going to be trying this out now Forte is RIP.The ultrawide lens has really enhanced the graphic patterns which contrast well with the people in the foreground.

Old Barn Door by Howard -I love abstract closeups like this. The bolts and the knothole remind me of eyes and the lighting has really brought out the textures. The Tamron 90mm is one of the best lenses around IMO{I note the late great Barry Thornton was also a fan}.

Interior by Justin Low-Very moody and with a real air of mystery about it which is enhanced by not knowing anything about the subject or location.

Pretenders by Kevin Caulfield-love the poses and the guy wearing shades indoors-always the sign of a real artiste LOL.The stagelights in the top corners also nicely fill up what would otherwise be large areas of dead black. Has Caulfield junior arrived yet BTW?

It's been a great round and I'm already looking forward to the next one!

Thanks - I was really happy with the way the lights fill up that space.

Yes, he arrived on Wednesday last week. Sorry I still haven't checked my mail for a long time now, so there will be many great postcards to check out when I finally get to it.

I Actually already received these last week, but I'm posting the update now:

Howard, Old Barn Door: very nice textures, I like this one. The more I look at it, the more I see.

Kevin Caulfield, Pretenders: Wow, very nice! Really caught the right moment.

The flow of postcards is slowing down. Reflecting on "my first postcard exchange", I must say: I really enjoy it, and I plan to participate in future rounds for sure!

Kraker,

I double checked just now, and I haven't received your card I'm afraid. If you want to send a new card I'd be delighted, but please don't feel pressured to do so.

Thanks,
H

Thanks, Greg. Yes, it was existing light. Anyway, even though I was in the front row, as this was a festival, I was still at least 15 or 20 feet from the edge of the stage, so flash wouldn't have helped much anyway. I've wanted to shoot the Pretenders for a long, long time, so I was happy to get the chance to get my SLR to a show.

Hej,

I printed a few "spare" cards, so it's no problem to send it again. I'll post it within the next few days!

Cards still arriving

Yesterday a beautifully composed blue-toned card arrived from Bob

I've also enjoyed this exchange (my first) and I look forward to future rounds.

I am now up to 23 cards. I've already commented on cards from 21 people. Here are my comments on the two most recently received cards:

Kevin Caulfield: a great shot of the Pretenders in concert - the only scary thing is that Chrissie Hynde looks to be unchanged since I saw them 20+ years ago, whereas I know that I certainly don't look unchanged since 20+ years ago....

Bob: a great, blue toned image - almost looks like it was photographed using moonlight (by the way, I assume that "Bob" is "Bob F.")

Thanks, they are very special.

Yes, sorry - I keep meaning to put my APUG nick on the labels, and forget every time  ...

Ah well, as they have reached Canada, I guess I'll put up a scan in a couple of days.

Cheers, Bob.

Kate, it still hasn't arrived. I did get a very nice blue-toned picture from Bob (thanks, Bob), but no card from you.

Two more yesterday. Bob's wonderful blue-toned image and Donald's very well-executed shot of the zebras. Excellent!

Thanks BobF: for your wonderfully toned moody image of the neolithic burial chamber on the Wiltshire Downs. Very lovely!

Bob,

Thanks for the great card, never seen a blue toned print before. Ironically, your card was about the most damaged I received, even though it probably came the shortest distance...

btw) Is it ok for me to type your surname on APUG when referring to you?

Tom.

Also received Justin Low's: very dark image of a cathedral at night. Very interesting. Where was that taken?

Hi Kate, thanks for the compliments. It's actually a restored shophouse that was first built early in the last century. It's located in Tanjong Pagar, the area between the Business District and Chinatown in Singapore.

That's the Post Office for you: they must have been trying especially hard as the combination of the paper and the full width labels makes for quite a durable combination... Yours needless to say, came though completely unscathed, as indeed did Art's delicate Polaroid transfer (blimey Art, these must take forever to do!).

I wonder if the state that mine arrived in compared to yours and Art's is some kind of organized artistic criticism by postal workers worldwide...

Obviously anyone who has sent a postcard or print has my surname and an address, but like many, I prefer it to not be search-able on the interweb. Just plain paranoia on my part I know, but hey, just because you're paranoid, doesn't mean .... <insert theme tune from "The Twightlight Zone" here> ...

Cheers, Bob.

Thanks Matt. She sure does, even up close. Same for me. When I first saw them in 1982 I was only 17, and I look a lot older now.

Because I didn't check my PO box for about two weeks, I received a mother lode the other day, 19 cards. Before those I think I had received about 6. I will try to write some comments on them.
