Alright, I'm in (I think). My tardy cards for round 48 are currently drying, and I hope to have them out in the post tomorrow. However, Japan Post is ... I don't know what it is. Officially it's not delivering mail to certain countries, but is accepting mail from others, however it's not always clear if that includes parcels or postcards and letters (either direction). Long story short, if I can send the tardy cards now, even surface, I will. If I can't...does this disqualify me from Round 50? I'd really like to be a part of it. If I can be, I'm in for the max, if it's an issue, I'll understand.

I'll say you are good. Looks like postal systems are having problems. The lack of passenger flights is likely a part of the problem they carry a lot of cargo. Canada Post is even promising slower deliveries due to online shopping.

Thanks George!

Nige,

Good to see you are in for the magic round 50. I remember meeting up with you to look at your Mamiya 645 gear before I purchased my own. Way back then you were developing film but not printing, have you had a chance to make your own prints in the darkroom yet? Not that it matters for this exchange.

Must be mixing me up with someone else, been printing since about 1980 I think

Do use a M645 though!

Looks like we are up to 20 so far. Please let me know of any corrections.

I doubt we'll get 50 for 50, but that would be cool if we could! (it's been a long time since I've printed that many for a round).

George, I'm in for the MAX, please! Thanks for continuing to administrate the exchange, much appreciated!

I have to say, I really enjoyed the cards of the "first-timers" in round 49. It's great to see some new interest in the exchange, and I'm glad to see so many come back for another go. Thanks all!

Sign me up for MAX again please. I really enjoyed the last round - my first - and am looking forward to the big 5-0!

To All:

I am having some issues with the darkroom sump pump "tripping" the GFCI outlet, maybe because the original sump pump was replaced with a too large a sump pump in March 2020. I need to have a discussion with the plumber that installed the replacement sump pump (the original installation worked for 15 years, but was 1/2 the size of the replacement). The bottom line is that I am not sure when the darkroom will be "reliable", therefore I am not sure when my cards will be mailed.

Wish me luck in my discussions with the plumber.

Regards,
Darwin

Luck wished!

I do no longer have a darkroom. But for the sake of the 50 ... I can not resist. I will be able to send something analog. Cyanotypes should qualify. But I might need a bit of experimentation to get to the needed negative contrast first. So let me go in with a low number. I think 10 would be good for the first time again.

I send PM with my new address.

Cheers
Ruediger

Ruediger returns to the Postcard Exchange - that is worth celebrating!
Sadly, I don't see being able to participate again this coming round.

So you are saying that I come back to the postcard exchange just to hear that I do not get a card from you? That's a pity.

Cheers

Even more a pity for me Ruediger.
I vow to get a darkroom up and running again in some way, but the combination of a recent move and a hopefully temporary inability to borrow a darkroom due to pandemic concerns means that I cannot in good conscience sign up for the next round.

Nice to have you back with us Ruediger! Matt, what a shame you won't be in the next round.

We have to take the good news with the bad...

Glad to see you back Ruediger! Hopefully we end up on each other's lists.

Matt - it's too bad you'll have to sit out this round again - hopefully you'll be back for 51!

WOW! A blast from the past. Ruediger, welcome back to the Postcard Exchange. It is great to hear from you. How is jst? I look forward to whatever card you decide to send. I have sent cyanotypes on watercolor paper through the mail, and they survive postal system quite well.

Matt, this is truly a bummer. You have been one of the core Postcard Exchange members for so long. I hope you get the darkroom operational for the next PCX round. If you PM me your new address I could add you to my address list for round 50.

Regards,
Darwin

Hey ho, let's go! I'm in for the MAX. Same address as before.

Thanks for the warm welcome back Darwin, and also Jake and Rachelle and Matt.

It would be nice to end up on the same list with you. However, I would like to lower expectations, I decided to do Van Dykes (for the first time) and without a darkroom I can not do enlarged negatives. So you will have to live with what I am able to do and that is 4x5“ pinhole images. These nicely fit on paper in postcard size, and I like pinhole images anyway, and I just started to use my pinhole cameras more often again so how could I not send a pinhole image.

And jst .... wow, just thought about how young she was when she decided to also do postcards and now she is at the University and studying. She is doing good and I am happy to see her taking all the challenges of life in a very positive way

Now, I am looking forward to all the postcards. This will be fun .... again.

Cheers
Ruediger

Your card made it to my house Moose on the loose, will comment on it later in PE #48.

Thanks Darwin. Tell you what, if I manage to get something set up in the next couple of months, I'll PM my new address to you, and you can confirm your address, and we can do a side exchange.
It will add to the motivation to solve what may be insoluble problems.

Matt, I'd be delighted to send you an extra card too even if you're not participating in PCX 50 unfortunately.

Part of the cards already prepared, by the way.
