Received a card from Laurent this week. I like the composition of a person contemplating the clouds. This photo has a story to tell.

Regards,
Darwin
Thanks! Making this image made me realise how "exclusion" could be efficient to make a story ;-)

This week I received:

Oxleyroad's River rouge, very peaceful landscape.
Gijsbert's Raven. I agree the print is dark, but not too dark for my liking, and the composition is very effective!
Anonymous postcard, portrait of a girl with headphones, shot using a Jupiter 8 lens (I should really test the one I was given!) . The fuzzy look works great here.

Thanks!

It has taken me a few rounds to get around to reporting out on the cards that have made it to my letterbox. I and many visitors to our house have enjoyed these photos as we stick them to the fridge where all can see. When curiosity get s the better of our guests they ask what they are and then look at all of them in detail. Apologies to all who have been wondering if their post cards had arrived or not.

In no particular order, Matt King - "Jeepers, Peepers", djhopscotch - "La Casa de Dona Lupe", graciemansion - Delray , Florida, iandvaag - "Douglas Dunes in colour", LarsAC - "Greetings from Germany", graciemansion - "Uniquely Bolinas", Laurent - Buildings in the square, kraker - "Honesty Box".

Four more cards have accumulated on my desk, and it is time to comment on them. The card from mike c could be viewed in any orientation and still look "normal". Good job keeping detail in the dark tire, nicely done. The card from Black Dog is an interesting pinhole photo of what looks like a canal. This is a good use for fogged/"cooked" paper. A very 1940's style soft-focus portrait from Erik Petersson was a nice surprise. Nicely exposed and printed. I am not sure what she is holding - looks like a phone. "Raven" by Gijsbert is also well done. I get to see lots of these birds in the nature preserve near my home. Looks like this one was very cooperative, allowing you to photograph it. I like the silhouette.

Thanks to all for a wonderful round of nice work. I look forward to Round 44.

Regards,
Darwin

Thanks for the positive feed back folks, I some time wonder if I have filled out the address correctly or if they get lost in the mail.

Thanks drpsilver, I actually started with three birds, I was too slow!
I received 'Dirt Wheel' today from Mike C, took me a while to figure out what it was, I like it a lot, and from a distance I start to think of ufos

Got the Moose on the loose card today, really nice night photo of a very old onsen in Japan, I like it, and the car lights encircling the building really set it off. For such an old building it sure looks modern.

gijsbert, it is a little abstract ,but I see these tires all day at work and this one just stuck out. It really do's not have an up or down being a tire, unless it is flat.

That was fast! Actually, the current building is just 120-odd years old, but locals have been using those hot springs for over 1000 years. In a country full of old wooden buildings, surprisingly few are original to when they were built, as age, humidity, insects, earthquakes, and fires have all taken their toll here.

Moose: look for "the essential Japanese house"
It is a coffee table book. All photos of Japanese houses. I think it was printed on the 60's.

Hi, I have received the following cards: a line of bottles by David, A bench with clouds by Laurent, a parachuter by Rob, Christmas decoration ducks without signature, naked surfing by Darwin, River Rouge by Oxleyroad, a carriage by a tree by Lars, Jeepers Peepers by Matt King, Honesty box by Jacco de Kraker, Douglas Dunes (in colour!) by Ian, a Pinhole by Jake, Propeller by Howard, an old gate by Terry, Dirty Wheel by Mike, Dogo Onsen by Rachelle, Raven by Gijsbert, and finally Air Spirit by Darin. Darwin's card arrived here yesterday as well. The image is nicely graphic, and the old time tone is great.

Matt, you must mean Darin's card. I sent my cards out some time ago, and you commented on it at that time. I also received Darin's (darinwc) card. The clouds could be imagined as many different things. I agree that the red/brown/yellow tone adds interest to this photo. This is one of those mistakes/errors that sometimes turn out nice.
I also received a card from mooseontheloose. This image has a lot interesting elements: the nice Dogo Onsen, the juxtaposition of old and new, and the activity around the building. Nicely composed and printed.

Regards,
Darwin

I too received Black Dog's "The Thinker".
I agree with Mike's comment - the print is very nice.
And the use of "television" lighting is very good!

Catching up on cards received, and I've got quite some catching up to do:

Oxleyroad, River Rouge, my first encounter of a Ferrari P30 shot. Have 5 rolls myself, but haven't had the opportunity to try it yet. Very nice subject, lucky on that last shot on the roll! The semi-matt surface of Ilfospeed brings back memories of my earlier printing days. Works nicely for this subject!
Black Dog, winter sunshine and a walk on the beach. Very nice contrasty print, lovely.
mike c, dirty wheel. Well, third card I take from the stack, all three very different, yet all three very interesting. Dark, chrome, glow, great.
mooseontheloose, Dogo Onsen at night. After many a round of this exchange, I recognise a mooseontheloose print without checking the back. Although in this case, the location, obviously Japan, is kind of a giveaway. Lovely photo, great print. Spirited Away... when that came out, I promised myself to go see it, still have to keep that promise... I should and I will.
darinwc, Air Spirit. Arrived today, interestingly with the text "Opened by mistake, franchise tax board, Sacramento Calif" stamped on the front and the back. Trying to wrap my head around that, an institute that has a rubber stamp to excuse themselves for opening mail by mistake, how interesting! Anyway, the photo! Minimalistic, strong lines, brooding, really nice!

In my stack of cards to comment on, I've also got a currently empty envelope that, judging by the country of origin, must be from Erik Petersson. Erik, I may have temporarily misplaced your postcard, sorry about that; will comment on it if and when I find it, but in any case, tack så mycket!
