Just got home from a trip to Yosemite Nat'l Park to find three more cards in the mailbox. I like the symmetry in the card from BWKate. I does not look like there is much beach to enjoy at the end of these stairs. I really like interplay of the shadows and window frame in the photo from rst. Thanks to both of you for your kind comments on my photo. The card from "a guy named kraker" is very interesting because I would have never looked at door in such detail. The cards from rst and kraker have given me some ideas for my "doors and windows" series that I am working on.

I have also been sending postcards to myself. If gives me an idea of how abused they get by the postal service.

Thanks to all for making this a great round of images.

Regards,
Darwin

3. Breda door fromkraker Great lens and what film did you use? Well exposed. Striking contrast.

Film was Ilford Delta 100. It should be written on the back of the card, although a few notes might have 'slipped through' during the writing of the 30 cards.

Glad you like it; I'm happy with the remarks about the contrast, because that was the thing I spent the most test prints on.

Four more awesome cards today...

Eric G's Deer- (and mailboxes?) it looks as though he's standing guard to make sure there's no funny business with the mail, cool!
Robin's Tattoo Shop- Why indeed... I love the reflection from the street too, that's a great find.
Ruediger's Window Curtain Shadow- better late than never I think and your patience paid off with this one. Lovely light and nicely composed.
Tim's Dome and Cross- beautiful silouette, I love that bright bit of clouds on the right, it balances the dark dome perfectly!

krakerI understand now what a triangle above 100 means. Thanks.
Ruediger they look like very useful tools for my toolbox but no prices. I imagine it would be pricy?Sure it would simplify split grade printing a lot.

Okay I'm back from my little holiday and I have a nice pile of postcards now :D
A lovely landscape of a Norwegian lake from mikeg
An interesting collection of mailboxes and a deer from erikg
The nice pinhole blender image from stan160 - I guess those are the pictures you took before you met up with the APUGgers :D I got to see the pinhole blender camera Ian used to make his postcards. They're really neat little metal tins :D
The funny tattoo shop window from Robin Dreyer. I really like this one.
The beautiful window curtain shadows from rst
Tim Walls's Brompton Cemetery photo is lovely too. I'm glad I'm not the only one drawn to the "Magnificent Seven" cemeteries for photography. My first photography field trip was to Kensal Green Cemetery and I still love those photos that I took there.
Last but not least, Stephen Frizza's self-portrait. Really nicely done... and the trains in Australia look nicer than the ones in the UK

One thing I've noticed in this exchange is that the postal system has some automatic scratching machine that has scratched nearly every single postcard I've recieved in about the same place  Ah well, in all the cases you can hardly notice the gouged out emulsion because the images are the strong points!

Haha, today something funny happened. I was at the mailbox and took a card out of it. Looked at it and it was immediately clear to me - subject, contrast, patterns, nice gray tones, but also black and white and that beautiful glow in the highlights - that card is from Kate ... turned it around and read Watering cans by Tim Gray. OK, I was wrong, but wait ... Watering cans? There is not any can in the image, is my English so bad that I do not know what a watering can is?

But then I realized, what I had in hands was two cards, sticked together and it really was Kates card I looked on first and that the other card really shows ... watering cans. It is a very calm image transporting a kind of mood to me. I like the soft tones which add nicely to the subject. Unfortunately the post office has put a good amount of ink on it.

So thanks to Kate and Tim for your cards, I like them both.

And then I received two very nice and big cards from Mark Fisher - but wait, that was the Lith Print Exchange. That reminds me of something ...

I am in a hurry now ... ciao

Ruediger,
Were you able to read the message on my card? Hopefully it wasn't too messed up. Thanks for the kind comment.

Woohoo! I can hardly wait!

Easter holidays delayed all postcards; every afternoon when I get home I check the mail, mostly expecting B&W images, but things have slowed down a bit. Currently at 19 out of 30. No mail at all today... Better luck tomorrow. :munch:

Recevied Tim Gray's moody image of Watering cans. Nicely done and how exciting to have a place to print again! Also received mikeg's landscape photo from a trip to a Norweigan lake! I love how the tree really stands out! Thanks! I am up to 14 cards out of 30 received so far!

Yes, everything is OK with Tims card. I do not know how the two cards could have stuck together so perfectly.

Wow, the plural wasn't a just a typo! Kate, received your set of cards today... they're great; I haven't been able to choose a favourite yet. The one I'm looking at at one particular moment is my favourite for that moment...

What a pleasant surprise. Thanks a lot, Kate!

Let's see...Tim's water cans are fantastic! Nice lighting and well-printed. A few of our Easter visitors commented on this one.

James' Italian train station is a favorite already. Great tones, nice paper...

Robin's tatoo shop window has beautiful tones. Barry's leaf in snow brings back memories of growing up in a much colder clime. Both Mike's Lake Jolster and Tim's cemetery in London evoke such a great mood, and I have been looking at them as a pair, since they also arrived on the same day!

Shoot the Freak

Adam's "Shoot the Freak" card came yesterday. What a great image. Did you pose that guy, or did he just happen to be there when you got your 4x5 all set up?

I wasn't intending to even have him in the shot, as I was setting up, he just walked over and sat down, so I released the shutter before he walked away. Funny enough, as soon as I got the shot off, he got up and left.
