Received Ian's (Stan160) card yesterday...great idea with the pinhole blender and a very dramatic and different card. I love it!

Also from BWKate, an infrared image of beach in BC that is absolutely a perfect shot with the crow in the foreground and, I might add, perfectly printed. Kate, how did you add the frame around the image? A blank card card cut slightly smaller than the crop frame?

BTW, Kate is not on my group list, but we decided to swap postcards after we talked about her trip to LA and Frank Gehry's Disney Hall on another thread recently.

Today I received two lovely cards from:
kingjon With great image of Rip in the front of the house.I had to show it to Buster, no reaction tough? What a nice lens, you should do some close up's.
Completely new to me a pinhole blender , what? Then I looked at the site what a great idea. Thank you Stan160 very unique, well done.

Since my last update I have received cards from Mick Fagan, a great portrait, I read the details earlier in the thread, absolutely great. PepMiros swans, lovely picture and amazing paper, a great look and feel. Can you tell me what paper this is printed on? astroclimbs cross, a bit dark, but that fits the atmosphere of the picture. Doug Smith: first IR in this round (and, sadly, BWKate is not in my group this time, so I wonder if there will be more IR photos). I'm a sucker for IR. This is no exception. A true beauty. IR even works in mid-winter... Also very nice paper, by the way.

And two more cards yesterday: Stan160s lovely and unique pinhole blender shot (I had a look at the website... must resist... too many cameras already!), great one. Jon Kings Pantheon shot is like a drawing, lik a painting; amazing. Is this with the standard 65mm lens? Looks more like the 45mm.
(Although I do think it is kind of funny, looking at this and previous rounds: Europeans sending pictures taken in America, Americans sending pictures taken in Europe... We can all save ourselves some travelling if we organise this in another way )

News on my behalf: I finally managed to print all my cards, I'm writing them now (that'll take a few days), meanwhile I will buy some stamps. All in all, I expect they will start to find their way to you a few days from now!

Erik G's card arrived today...wonderful shot with apropos quotes printed on the reverse. This is a striking shot, wonderfully ironic...plus nice tones, excellent!

Cards arriving this week: Robin's great window shot with reflections from a wonderful city, bwkate - a second reflection image this week - I think the IR really put the tones in the print i n the right place - especially the 'added' fern! Bdial - A great oak leaf, I like how you show the texture in the icy snow. EricG.. nice 'shot' - a wonderful observation along the roadside.

My cards are all written, all that is needed now is a lot of stamps. I will send the cards tomorrow or -more likely- Tuesday.

I also received EricGs postcard -- really reminds me of growing up in the wilds of Manitoba, although it was usually real deer hanging out in the fields across from my house -- too bad I didn't have a camera then, could have had my own 'I shot a deer' photo as well ;-)

Also BWKate's stairway to the beach. Interesting composition makes me wonder what is going on further out in the water. Thank you for the comment, Kate. Will you be taking up the Rollei IR film?

I got two more: BDial's Leaf with snow. Very nice graphic image, I thought it was a photogram at first. It could work well as a textile image. Also Stan 160's pinhole image. Very cool. I love what you've got here, it's facinating to look at. I'd like to see the whole strip of film. Some of my students have been making pinhole images with large cans, like the big popcorn tins that show up at Christmas. They put mulitple openings in those and have gotten great overlapping compositions, sort of like this but on a paper negative. A roll film camera that can do that would be very neat.
Pete H -- is the deer wearing a scarf? Ha! hadn't looked at that way, very funny. I think it is just an attempt at realism on the maker's part.

For one source, B&H carries the Ilford postcard paper in glossy and pearl finish. I think Ilford is currently the only company making paper that size and thickness. Many people, myself included this time use regular photo paper.

I was using the 45mm lens on the Bronica almost all the time in Italy. I'm sure I used it then. The negative is rather on the thin side too, compared to most of my negatives.

Yes, we could save traveling... but why?? . Let's face it, distant places are always more exciting, and photogenic too

I think Calumet has the postcard paper as well.

I really do need to keep track of the cards, it's too much fun looking at them. I've received Jon's, Stan160's, Buster6x6's, and a bunch of others, all great.

All these great places for pictures, Europe, here, wherever, too bad I don't travel for a living, though I know from experience, I'd never have time for photography.

Getting a nice little pile of cards now...

Norwegian Parliament Building by Pete H-beautifully lit and detailed despite what looks like a serious brightness range. Also love the way the forms of the lights and lighted windows complement and contrast the moon near the top left.

New mexico Passion by Todd Haines-reminds me of Bravo's Mexican work;surreal lonely figure against a big sky which could have been taken any time in the last 100 years.

Door to MySpace-can't read the sig but an enticing image anyway!

Waterfront Rail Line by Mike Wilde-very subtle for HIE;ghostly and ethereal.

Self Portrait by Stephen Frizza-a very serene and peaceful image.....contemplative like you say.

Port Renfrew by BWKate-otherworldly and dreamlike;a landscape from another time...

Angelfish by Akki14-another lovely dreamlike image;the cyanotype suits the watery subject matter perfectly.

Barry Dial's Leaf in snow arrived today. The smoothness of the snow underneath makes it puzzling - is the leaf partly buried or just sitting on top? Don't answer that, it's good to have something to think about.
Also Robin Dreyer's card. I love it. Why indeed?

Another great bunch of cards this week, yay!

Pinhole blender from Ian (Stan 160)- what a cool effect that is! The last time I was in London (only 4 days!) I didn't take any photos...what was I thinking? Excellent unique postcard.

Madison Sq Park from Doug Smith- after seeing this card I am now really sad now that HIE is going away, it really glows. The two doggies on the left are a cute addition!

The Pantheon from Jon King-beautiful, beautiful image. So nice I have to say it twice. Wonderful detail. Must go there...

House guest from Mick Fagan- I like it, my BF really likes it...thanks alot! Just kidding. Another great portrait. How do you get your models/guests to look so natural? I can't seem to figure it out.

Swans from Josep in Andorra- I really love this image, the tones in the water are so warm and nice.

My own postcards are done finally and I'll be mailing them tomorrow. Sorry for the wait.
