The woods may often look picturesque, but making interesting pictures of them isn't that easy. I'm very, very impressed by the pictures in this thread. You make it look dreamy and effortless.

The effort is: TIME, TIME and MORE TIME...
Agreed.
A lot of the ones I do are meticulously planned. You first need to train your eye to see, then I use a view finder to work out where everything needs to be, branches, rocks, clouds etc. and most importantly the light. select the correct materials and tools to do the job, then work out when the time is best.
The picture above was planned a year in advanced, as the sun is only in the right spot in April, then need to time the tide to be in the right spot at 4.30pm. Then map out in your head how to best achieve your vision in the dark room by dodge and burns and toning selections.
Others you just walk in on and everything is bang on and you can go back to at a later stage and the light and magic just doesn't work the same.....so be prepared.
