Well played indeed!

Interestingly, I was in the darkroom today revisiting negatives and printing a few things from 1999 when I shot for a week with an Mamiya 7 I rented after my 'Blad stuff was all stolen. The Mamiya optics were just stunning.

There should be a special place in hell for those who steal - especially Blads! But glad to hear that the Mamiya optics were stunning - some consolation.

Well, it was one of those " it accidentally it worked out for the best: things. I had replacement insurance for everything.

When I got back home and told my insurance guy what happened, I explained that a lot of the stuff was purchased used (I had receipts) and I was just looking to get back what I had into it all, He told me that since I had replacement insurance it would all be replaced with new equipment. So all I was out was the photos lost and I ended up with brand new Hassy gear: A body, 3 A12 backs, and 4 lenses and a meter, as I recall.

I enjoyed the Mamiya 7 so much I briefly thought about going that route, but Hassy won out after all. The 501c/m I bought is now just old enough that it needs a CLA after 25 or so years.

Glad that your insurance covered the loss.

Salt Point, California. It's been a while since I've had the time to put in the effort into making photos like these. EL wire, orange LEDs, and a blue LED flashlight were used.
