Thank you Jon. I have another negative to work on with more context around the building . Must have been a tough place to eke out a living before irrigation, with only 14" average yearly rainfall. The building is in the middle of a field with no road to it anymore....the sandy soil was well over the tops of my shoes walking across to get the photo.

This is an iconic Yosemite shot that I took with a 75 or 55mm lens on a Pentax 67II:

North Dome appears at the left and below is Royal Arches followed by Washington Column and, of course, Half Dome. I had originally thought that this was an Ansel Adams composition but was unable to find it in any of the collections that I have access to. However I have found two similar 19th century compositions by Carlton Watkins taken from the same general location:

I once left my photo backpack which contained a Toyo 810MII, at least 2 lenses, spot meter, 5 holders...with the tripod attached against a tree at this location which was/is the day parking lot. It was a heavy tourist weekend ad it took me 45 minutes to drive from it to the 120 turn-off when I suddenly felt the need to check the trunk before I left the park. Sure enough the pack was missing and I drove back as fast as I could in the heavy creeping traffic and finally gave-up at the Conti Memorial where I found a parking spot and ran the rest of the way. Unbelievably is was still there!

Beautiful prints and an amazing story about the almost lost gear. The worst luck I have had is driving off from a location along a river near or in GSMNP then realizing later that I did not have my tripod. It was gone.

I keep getting reminded why i like both the film and the paper so much. One has so much resolution and the other so much depth.

Thank you. The balance on this one is very delicate. It's hard to get the quality of light right. I may think I've nailed it, but it will later look too light or too dark. Still not sure if it's at a place I like.

I shot this after 8pm. It had been raining all afternoon. I had given up for the day and was checking into a B&B in the village when the rain stopped and there was this stillness and amazing enveloping light. I drove back and had the rare experience of being present in the moment. I made a number of images, but even if nothing worked, I would still regard it as one of my top times photographing.
