I often document old buildings that had some local history and are slated for demolition...

I'm moving up there...will check this place out!

It's well worth it. I didn't discover Fort Knox until right before I left Maine. It quickly became my go to place. Some of the gun batteries are accessible year round, or were when I was there. Just remember to bring a flash light and electric socks.

Something I never expected. We know the world through our senses. What if those senses are off or have changed? I just had surgery of cataracts and quickly noticed how colors and contrast have changed. I guess over the years the changes have been gradual so I never really notice, but now everything on my computer screen looks like comic book colors and the contrast is popping out. Paul Simon/s Kodachrome has been going through my mind. I then saw an image I had recently uploaded. Then checked out a few more. They were not what I thought they were. I've taken one and reworked it to about what I thought I had originally done. It's very disconcerting. I don't what I'm sending out to the world and how they are being perceived. I though the differences in computer screens was worry enough.

There is a big difference. Like with the highlights above the stairs, or instance. That's for sure.

The saving grace is that the composition is what draws you in, so either one is compelling. But, no, you cannot count on everyone's perception being the same, either from physical/mechanical (cataract, or other visual degradation) or generic (Color blindlness) or just the computer screen you may get quite a big difference.

Best of luck healing from that surgery. I hope it gives you a great new perspective, I've really enjoyed the shots you've posted.

Reminds me, I need to get a bottle of those eyedrops while my eye doctor is still just "watching and waiting" on my very early stage cataracts...

I have been enjoying your photos in this thread and others for quite some time. I never have thought they were over-sharpened, or too contrasty. Thank you very much for sharing your accomplished work with us.

Tell the ophthalmologist that you are not satisfied and you want it back the way it was. Keep from smiling as you wait for an answer.

Nice, but 1, 2 and 4 are a bit over corrected. I recently got my Nikon PC lens and I am still working on using it to get the best photograph.
