What developer did you use? That could be a factor. Also the way they have been scanned and post-processed may be exaggerating the grain.
I use replenished XTOL, but almost any black & white developer will do.

That's a really nice composition. Did you use an IR Filter?

I will look into some of them. I saw that there were literally hundreds of black-and-white developers, and I have done a lot of chemical surface processing of metal parts for the machine shop (I owned and ran a machine shop, now I teach machine tool and engineering) so handling chemicals isn't a problem-for me it's just the storage of the chemicals. My current place is small and shared so I don't have room for a real darkroom, just my changing bag. My grandad has been encouraging about being able to do developing with just the changing bag, so it looks like I'll learn developing in late august or september. (School starts in 2 weeks...)
