Has anyone heard of the Porta-View II wood camera kit and know anything about the makers? It's an extremely light-weight wooden mono-rail 4x5 with all the standard movements but has a rather short bellow extension.
It employs a silky smooth, ingenious "non-geared focusing" method.

You're right! It's a wooden anal probe of frightening diameter- Hand-made by skilled (and slightly sadistic) artisans in the North Pole. Thanks!

I actually have a friend who sells those things. He doesn't like it when we refer to him as a butt-nocular salesman.

The PortaVue was made by Les Fader and originally supplied through Calumet around the same time as the Bender appeared. Fader carried on supplying them for a number of years afterwards, and finally seemed to have vanished from the picture.

Thanks for the info. I ran a search on Les Fader and got directed to a grip of French pages! Is Les Fader still around? I have noticed that the "kit cameras" are fairly popular in Australia. Thanks again...
