What is the clearing bath for Polaroid negs? Is it sodium sulfite?

i think it is a 18 % solution of sodium sulfite

Yes. sodium sulfite. 500g will make a liter.

Be real careful with them as they are very fragile.

Kodak Hypo Clearing Agent works wonders, and chances are you already have it lying around.

bath

You can also use a very dilute solution of sodium sulfite and water and or NO sodium sulfite and just plain water. Some people do that and wait till they get home. I like to use the dilute mix. 440 grams of NaSulfite is alot and its expensive. For safety margin wrap negs in toilet paper or tissue paper and leave in the pail. Someone made deicated pails for a while for type 55 where you had about ten slots to put the film into with a very secure snap top lid.
Regards, Peter
