My Polaroid sx-70 sometimes has a delayed ejecting problem. When I press the shutter, I hear a very short noise, but the image can still be seen in the viewfinder, and then nothing happens. After waiting maybe dozens of seconds, the camera suddenly kicks into gear, snapping the last moments and ejecting the film. Does anyone know the reason? How can I fix it?

According to my research, the problem should be a delay in lifting the fresnel mirror.

hi! this is a really common issue with model 1/2/3 cameras (without the tripod and straps), the reason is probably because of this

this is the fresnel plate, it has a rubber flap that covers the viewfinder when its raised. this shape is a factory flaw and tends to catch, hence your delayed cycling of the camera!

here is the fix (though someone really well versed in disassembling/reassembling the sx-70 is recommended to do this): cut the sides into an angle. that way the rubber flap wouldnt catch and cause the entire assembly to get stuck.
