Polaroid peel apart transfers

Recently having a clear-out I found my old Polaroid 180 - still with a film in it!
Much to my surprise it produced a picture when tested.
This got me thinking - I have a fridge with quite a few Polaroid and Fuji peel-apart films languishing for the past 20 years.
I've never tried transfers (not emulsion lifts) but maybe I could use some of these films to try that?
So I tried following the instructions in Kathleen Carr's book 'Polaroid Transfers;'.
All I got was a dark green square - several variations.
I can see an image on the negative in a glancing light but no positive transfer.
Is the film 'wrong' (it's colour - I know Mono won't work)
The attached images are from testing the film for viability - not transfers.

Not sure which color Polaroid film you have but transfer was quite possible IF AND WHEN the chemical goo was not dried up. An active chemical goo is required to transfer the pigments from negative to positive. Chances are high that your film’s goo is partially dried up so only partially transferring pigments. As a next experiment, moisten the paper and leave the neg in contact for a longer time. Also, be mindful of temperature as cold will delay the pigment transfer also. Polaroid transfers were a really great art form; I really miss doing them!

The 2 test images were taken to see whether the film pack was still viable (not dried out) and it looks like that's not the problem (ignore colour casts - that comes from casual meter reading and lighting).
I was trying to make transfers onto damp paper (soaked and squeegeed) and was mindful of using a tray-warmer to keep the temperature around the 30°Celsius mark.
What I actually achieved is shown below in image 3 - several variations.
I've scanned the negative of one of these failures - image 5 - so something is being produced on the negative but not transferring. The contrast is poorer in reality but my scanner insists on 'improving' the picture,
