Hold onto those film backs boys & girls ......... How terrific that website is and the folks behind the entire endeavour. Support them!

I was thinking that one day I might have to junk my polaroid backs if Fuji ended their offerings but it looks like they are going to have a bright future now. Hope they do something with the sheet materials. I have a brand new Polaroid 545 Pro back that has only had film in it a couple times. Beautiful back, hate to see it not being usable. By the way, if you have never used the 545 Pro back be sure and get one if the sheet material comes back because the back is fantastic.

I think I have a tear in my eye..

I was at a thrift shop this weekend and saw bins and bins of nice Polaroid land cameras Circa 1960? for 2.00 each. I think I might go buy myself 10.00 worth of history tomorrow, now that it looks likely that I will be able to use them.

Does anybody know where I can get the leathers (faux leathers) for the SX70 and Alpha bodies that will match the original material?

Nice avatar photomem!

Good to hear...but of little actual use to me. I hope they eventually make peel apart products.

They do offer other films, check out the site. Let them know you want to see the pro films come back. Send them an email and SUPPORT them.

I wonder how limited the limited edition will be. Hopefully it will be a success.

There is something that is so magical and special about Polaroids. I hope this venture is a success.

Wishing them such luck with this.
What do you think it will mean for us U.S. customers? i.e., with stores like B&H import?
Perhaps it's time for Scott Shepard to do a show on Analog Radio about this?

They stated they are intending to make 10,000 packs of a b&w integral film pack which will NOT be on general sale.

By the way, Simon Galley from Harman did not comment here so far on all that...

I'm also kind of curious to see what the Polaroid re-issue camera is going to be like--a direct copy of the old one or sort of the PT Cruiser version?

Further information I received back from them this morning states:

" we only bought machines for the 600 film, so that's what we can produce. Pack film and 4x5 film require a completely different setup, and I'm not sure the machines even exist anymore (it used to be produced in a different factory in Mexico). " written by a Polapremium representative named Jan. She did suggest "for now to get on the Polapremium mailing list at http://www.polapremium.com/subscribe and you'll be kept in touch on new developments."

Hello Tom:

I have been in contact with Dr. Florian Kaps (the man running this new deal) on and off for the last few months and we will have him on the program in about a week or so. So YES !! we will have the REAL information on the deal.

Thanks for listening and your support !!

I note, with dismay, that the Type 55 film is £182 ($295) per box. I don't think we will see affordable 5x4 polaroid for some time yet.

Adrian, is the the price for "new" type 55? or is it old stock?
I was just given two boxes with a 4x5 back.
Best,

Sorry, a bit off topic but do you think that they will ever make "Polaroid Roll Film" again, i.e., Type 40.
I have a 150 Land that I'd love to use someday. Even looks good on the shelf.
Thx

Once started with their b&w peel apart process they only would need the converting machinery.
Think about the word `only´ and assume that the old machinery has long gone...

I think you should assume that Polaroid roll films will never reappear. Apart from the fact that that the manufacturing machinery would be long gone (production stopped 20/30 or more years ago) there wouldn't be many surviving cameras around that could take them. Some Polaroid rollfilm cameras can be adapted to take film packs (Fuji still make a range of compatible films) but I don't know if the 150 model can.
