Fuji making a better product?

Absolutely, hands down better. When you compare similar Polaroid and Fuji products.

For 30 years I used Polaroid films for my 4x5 testing, and when I couldn't get them anymore I switched to Fuji. Boy, was I surprised. The color was better, the developing was better and the little prints had better gloss.

Now the only problem is, that Fuji does not make a replacement product for all the discontinued Polaroid products. But, if you can use b/w or color instant print films in 4x5 pack and the smaller pack film size, then Fuji had you covered.

They do not make other sizes suitable for use on Large Format cameras., nor do they make a positive-negative film.

Fuji making a better product?

Yes. As much as I hate to say it, Fuji's color film is better than Polaroid's (never tried the B&W...yet). I think the advantage has to do with Fuji having the experience of ~75 years in the photo film industry, as well as having the money to fund an enormous R&D team compared to Polaroid.

I wouldn't say it is "better" if you liked the wonder of Polaroid colors. Different is what comes to mind for me. Fuji is also harder and less flexible to use for transfers, you can't do an emulsion lift as easily, and the lift wont stick if you succeed without gluing it down. Fuji's version of type 55 is seriously lacking.

Of course I'm glad Fuji instant is still available, but diminished choices are regrettable. The very things one might point out as superior are also what make it a poor replacement for many things that Polaroid was useful for.

I agree - I really like the beautiful colors of the Polacolor film - nothing looks like it. It always reminds me of a dream.

Fuji doesn't make SX-70 film though

At the moment no one does. But "The Impossible Project" in the Netherlands is attempting to design and start producing a product that will work in SX-70 type cameras. The have Ilford as a technology partner.

Fuji DOES make an integral film product. They call it Instax and they make their own cameras for it. It works just like (but isn't the same size as) SX-70 film. So Fuji does have the technology.

They are available in the USA.

Problem is, I have an SX-70 camera. Also can the Fuji integral film be manipulated?
