I'm intriqued by the expression, "end-of-life series of Polaroid film." Sounds like a last-fling more than a real reprive. I don't like the fact that nobody will return their phone calls... sounds like there is no new news.

WooHoo! So the Fuji instant pack films that we know and love will be renamed in order to increase their selling price! I found out about that several months ago...I just wish that "Polaroid" (the real Polaroid company is dead) was not getting a cut from me buying Fuji made pack film. Ugh...

Polaroid still works for me

I just pulled out our Polaroid camera, w/100mm lens. We bought it in 2003 and haven't used it in many years. I loaded it with our last pack of Polaroid 600 film. It still works. I think the film pack contains the battery power. B&H has the 600 film in stock at $16.95/ 10 shot pack. The color isn't bad at all. The close up image has a great amout of detail. The film expired in 2005. I could buy several rolls of Ektar for that price. I'll ration out the remaining 9 shots.

You're lucky Fotogeorge. I put some time zero in my SX-70 and nada. Made noises but nothing came out.Of course, it was from the late 90's so it wasn't entirely a surprise but I would have been happy with a wonky coloured print.

If I won the big lottery, I'd buy a boatload of instant film and walk around town with the SX-70 giving away prints to people.

Unsaleable.com were the people selling the "chocolate"-tinted last-run Type 80 Polaroid some time ago and (I think) still sell SX-70 film packs that have a built-in filter for compensating for newer film - I vaguely recall the rumour was they got a special deal with the Polaroid Netherlands factory that did the film packaging and finishing, but I don't think they have any film-producing or finishing facilities of their own.

Given their history with last-run Polaroid, I don't think this is any newly produced stock, unfortunately (for integral film - the "new" pack films I can see Fuji running with).

My own Polaroid misfire was that I bought a new-old-stock Spectra-compatible camera not too long before Polaroid announced they weren't producing any more film. Spectra film now hovers around $3/shot, so while less than some large-format films, I'm not inclined to shoot that much of it at these prices. Doh!
