I hope this is the correct place to post this question. Out of 10 shots today on pol55 p/n, 4 had absolutely no image. Totally black. I am very careful to point the correct side of the film toward the lens. I also thought I was careful to make sure the film 'clicked' into place before pulling out the tabs. I can only think of 2 things that would cause this. 1. I am not getting the film properly 'clicked' into place or 2. The film was put in backwards during manufacturing.

Has anyone had this problem? Has polaroid had problems in manufacturing this film?

Thanks.

The neg is black or the print is black?

If the neg is black, have you remembered to stop down the lens to the shooting aperture and set the shutter speed? You're sure you're not pulling the envelope with the shutter open?

If the print is black and the neg is clear, are you remembering to pull the envelope for the exposure? If the packet isn't clicking in, that would also cause this problem, though I suspect that when you pull the envelope, you would pull the whole packet out of the holder.

The print is black. I am pulling the envelope for the exposure. I am 99% sure that I am getting the film down far enough in the holder. However, there is no exposure at all to the film. I was wondering if there is an inherent problem with the clip, or if there might be a problem at polaroid getting the film in properly, however I am almost sure the film is put together properly because when I go through my processing procedure the print is always on the left and the neg always on the right and that has never varied.

I always process later at home and a few times I have had the clip get stuck in the rollers. Now my procedure is to always make sure to pinch the clip with pliers to make sure it doesn't get stuck in the rollers. It always works. But I do this just prior to processing so this would not affect the exposure because it is done after the film is removed from the holder in the field

Take a careful look down into the end of the holder that "clasps" the metal part. On a few occasions I have had to delve down there with "sharp" tweezers to remove a clip that did not exit properly with the package and remained "in situ" such that it prevented the next sheet from being properly seated and "held"... which meant that the envelope did not leave the film "uncovered" for proper exposure.

Ken, I will give that a look. Never thought it could be a rogue clip.
