Hi everybody! It is my first day in your forum and I am a little bit nervous...
I write you with my bad english because I need some informations.
I live in Italy and here, if you have to look for some special stuff you are going to run into problems…
For example, here with me is a Polaroid 550 back, once there were Polaroid pack for it, If I remember well the 795 (color) or something like this. Three years ago the manufacturer discontinued its production and so I bought a different Polaroid back (405) so I use 664 and I am happy (quite happy, because is not 4x5 full size format).
Here is the problem, what can I do with my 550 back? Do still exist films for this back?
Is it possible to make a conversion and use it for something else?
Ciao e grazie
Carsten

AFAIK, Polaroid still makes film packs for the 550 back. Well, at least many retailers still stock the film packs...

see the Calument Site for example.

By any chance, does the 4X5 version of Fuji FP-100C work with the Polaroid 550, or only the Fuji back?

That's good news. I was wondering about that since Polanoid announced that 4X5 pack film are going away...

I started using it quite by accident. I ordered the film once, without checking, assuming it would work in a standard Polaroid holder. Then I found out it wouldn't, went looking for a holder, found they weren't available anymore - but found one use. Too bad, I really like using it. I just wish I had ordered more B&W film for it; Calumet stopped selling Polaroid film for it last month.

Thank you very much, I will look for these Fuji packs hoping to find them in Italy.
The Polaroid old packs for the 550 were wonderful quality, wonderful silk surface, beautiful format. I do not care too much about the silk finishing but it was "cozy".
Maybe I can have the same effect ironing the glossy Fuji pressing them under a tablecloth...

I use a lot of FP-100C in my 405 holder - I like it much more than Polaroids 669 or 690) - so it'll be nice having the same product for 4X5. Time to dust off the 550!

Thank you! I already wiped off all the dust. I am coming to NYC next week, so I can buy cheaper films there...
