Polaroid 180 - worthless?

Perhaps I held on to my Polaroid 180 too long. With the announcement that film will be discontinued, will the pro Polaroids only be useful as paperweights?
Such a great lens/shutter and r/f system. Can these bodies be converted to a rollfilm format?

Not worthless at all. It should still be able to take the fuji polaroid packs.

The Fuji stuff is super. Shoot some fuji and throw the prints in boiling water and pull off the emulsion. It's fun for the whole family.

You could probably also convert the camera for 4x5 or rollfilm.

I believe the 180's are in higher demand now - they're one of the models that don't require batteries and you set aperture and shutter speed manually.

I have a 250 that's entire automatic - works fine with appropriate batteries - but it would be nice to be able to set things manually.

Use it and enjoy it if you can find the Fuji FPxxxx packfilm packs (NOT the ones that end in "45"), otherwise, feel free to post it in the Classifieds here (if you become a subscriber) or elsewhere - I'm sure someone will be happy to pick it up from you.

The Fuji pack film can be used for transfers as well, as I understand it the peel and application to the receptor must be done in darkness as the emulsion remains light sensitive at that point. Once the emulsion is down on the paper you can turn on the lights and roll. I haven't tried it yet as I still have Polaroid available here, but at some point I will.

Oh, since that 180 is worthless, I'd like to get in the line.

Yep. You can do transfers with the FP100C. Works pretty well but it is a different look than the 669.

I love these old Polaroids with manual lenses, I still shoot pack film with a Model 100 Automatic? and it's ok but I miss being able to really dial in an exposure of my choice, especially now that the film is so dear to come by. I suggest you take a second look at what is possible with your 180; let it refresh your minds-eye and lead you down paths you may not have traveled for some time.

I also miss 665 and soon, Type 55. I've got 15 sheets of the 4x5 P/N in the fridge and when it's gone the part of me that loves photography will morn it's passing all the more acutely.
