Polaroid 110b missing screw- help!

My Polaroid 110b, converted to 4x5 by Dean Jones (Razzle), has lost the screw that holds the remote cable release collar. (The piece one screws the cable release onto the camera). Anyone know what size screw that is!?!

Can you post a pic of where you are talking about? I have a box with a bunch of 110b parts, I'll look, but no guarantees I have one.

I just checked my own Razzle out, it looks like a generic small self tapping screw, possibly a wood screw, but more than likely a metal screw.

Dean seems to use whatever is handy and cheap that works very well, including Phillips head wood screws. In one instance I saw a Poz Drive head screw on one Razzle when dean was showing about three off at a photographic flea market in Melbourne, maybe that one was going to Europe where Poz-Drive screws are used a lot more than in Australia.

I'm assuming your camera has the cable release holder on the front left side where your left hand can press the shutter release via the cable. On original 110B cameras there is nothing there as far as I know. I could be wrong though.

What you need is the little screw that holds the cable release block on to a Copal (or is it a Compur) shutter. This should elicit a response from a wider audience. I have a couple of dead shutters kicking around, and as best I can tell, the screw in question is around 1.5mm diameter. Unfortunately, I have misplaced a jeweller's screwdriver, so am unable to give you any further information.

I'm sure someone your side of the pond will have a box of dead shutters and could probably find you a replacement fairly easily.

Just had another look at the image you posted - A Seikosha shutter will probably use JIS or JCIS screws, so perhaps a cheap/dead junk camera made in Japan will yield a suitable screw. If all else fails, give Flutot's Camera Repair a call.

When you reinstall the missing screw, a tiny dab of nail varnish on the head will keep it in place.

Measured the screws on a Seiko shutter and found it to be 0.85mm Dia by ~1.2mm long countersunk. In my little box of bits, I have one very similar screw, all be it in black (same thread, same length). Ping me an address and I'll pop it in the post to you.



Note: The screws used on a Copal shutter are the same thread, but use a flat pan head.

So...... Out of the four screws posted, which one fitted in the hole ?

One of the three smaller ones, or the single larger one ?

Now that you have a replacement screw in place, I'd suggest a dab of nail varnish on the head so that you don't lose it again.
