When I'm shooting B&W on 4x5 I generally just hold my glass filters - yellow, orange or red - in front of the lens while exposing the film.

I am about to make my first color exposures in this format and I'm wondering if there is a way to use a polarizing screen with a view camera?

You should get a filter holder for the camera as during composition you have to set the origination of the polarizing filter for the effect you wish. Remember a polarizing filter cuts the light by 50% also.
