I bought a couple of cheap circular polarising filters for two lenses around 10 years ago with the intention of having control over both blue skies and reflections on water - sometimes I want the latter and sometimes not. I ended up keeping one of those filters on the lens for years, only taking it off when I wanted to photograph sunsets, the moon or Mars (it's a 28-300 for which I also have a 2x teleconverter).

Definitely a good option to have.

Since polarising filters work best when they are at a 90 degree angle to the light, this can cause problems when trying to decide whether to filter the light on the foliage or the reflection in the water. The water reflection may be at a different angle to the leaves.
