I recently shot a box of 4x5 polariods type 53 using an old polariod 545 metal holder (old model), most of the photos have a discoloration on the top RHS corner. Looks like the developer did not spread evenly in this area. I consistantly got this problem with the whole pack. Any suggestions on how to fix it ?

Could you post some examples of the problem here? That would help in diagnosing if the problem is with the film or with the holder. It could be that the tension on the rollers is uneven, but if it is just the one corner, that is less likely than if it were uneven down the entire side.

A few examples would be nice... but also some more information. How old was the film? Have you experienced this problem before (ever) with this holder or any other Polaroid material?

The reason I ask these seemingly odd questions is that the type of problem you describe can happen from older film, especailly if it was stored on its side rather than flat. The chemical "goo" seems to get thicker when its old (past it's "expiration" date. The goo also can migrate to one side of the chemical capsule and not spread real well. Also, pulling too fast can cause poor coverage.

I'm betting that this is more of a problem with the Polaroid material or the "pulling" rather than a problem with the holder.

Polaroïd film should always be stored FLAT (or right up on the smallest side), if not the developing gel moves, slowly, to one side causing uneven developing. This could be the cause of your problem. Just me guessing!
