All:

Those who stated that a&o would be continuing production of Rodinal seem to be correct. Despite vaguely-worded statements on Agfa Photo's website and a&o's own stated business model, they have now publically stated that they are now producing Rodinal and intend to begin shipping immediately.

Link here to RangeFinderForum.com - email from a&o on the subject:

RangeFinderForum.com - email regarding Rodinal from a&o

Ya'll can stop bidding on hundred-dollar bottles of Rodinal on that auction site now.

Best,

Wiggy

I started a thread about Rodinal and A&O a few weeks ago, glad I was right...

Great to hear. I was planning on buying some R09 but since J&C is out of stock I decided to wait. Making it myself was far too dangerous and the Photographer's Formulary liquid type isn't out.

Looks like I now have three very acceptable choices now.

Well that's good news....on the other hand it's bad.

I have a new 500ml bottle here, and I swear every time I walked past it I heard..ebay..ebay....

Mr. Marzenski has replied in the affirmative. Neutol WA is among the AgfaPhoto chemicals that A&O will continue to manufacture and have distributed in the US.

Thanks very much for that information Sal...I was OK with switching to R09 (and may still do so...who knows), but I hated the thought of not having any more Neutol WA.

That guy who just bought a liter for 90 on ebay must be feeling pretty sheepish now. Gotta admit I was tempted to sell off my gallon or two when I saw that. But wait-maybe pre A&O Rodinal will be worth more...get your pre-A&O Rodinal here!

BUt wait again...why do all the post dates for "Today" above say "2004" and "2005"? Have I been drinking the Rodinal again?

The post dates I see don't specify a year; they're expressed as "today." You may be looking at the member join dates. (I've made that mistake myself more than once.)

Uhh... Why would he look sheepish? He got a quaranteed supply of Rodinal for x months, starting whenever the shipment arrives as opposed to say in y months when A&O made Rodinal will be available. Guaranteed availability always costs extra ;-) From what I can tell from the development tables on the net (I'm not a user myself) one can develop a lot of film in 1 litre of Rodinal and it is supposed to keep well. Will he really notice or bother about the cost by the time he is finished with the litre ?

Well, considering a bottle used to cost around $10... I'd be upset. That's $80 he could have used on film (not Agfa, of course).

Hmmmm... I've still got 5 or 6 liters stashed. We should plan this, so as not to glut the market!

I am glad I sold the 10 bottles I had before Christmas, they paid for the gas for my trip!

LOL
