Thanks for welcoming me to your group, I greatly appreciate it. While my initial objective in joining your group was to try to get some info about getting a focus adjustment done to my "Mamiya ZD Digital Back", I'm also always interested to meet other photographers, and those who are into photography, really...in any capacity.
So first, let me take a moment to introduce myself and give you my background/story..then I'll go back to my inquiry,
So, I was first introduced to Photography at about the age of 10 by my older brother, Gilbert, and we did photography/gigs together for about 5 years, and then i hit adolesence and went to that for awhile ha ha.
At about the age of 20, I started to get back into photography, but would lose my brother to Cancer the following year and just a month after the birth of my first child, my son, Adam. I was devastated by Gilbert's death and abandoned photography altogether.
Then about 5 years ago, a friend of mine got me to start up again, and once I had a new digital camera in my hands, it all came flooding back!....I've been back at it ever since, and I'm glad that I did.
So now I have a little website and am generating revenue from my work as well as doing some "pro bono" stuff where applicable.
So,...that's my story.
Now, I'm hoping that I can find some assistance with my inquiry about my "ZD back"
In that regard, this is what I wrote to a couple of potential repair people this morning:
****First, thank you for your valuable time, it is appreciated. I'll try to be as brief as possible, while providing necessary info.
I'm hoping you may be able to with my current issue: My Mamiya ZD Digital back is “slightly out of focus” (mated to my Mamiya 645AFD) when the “focus indicator dot” is lit, indicating “in focus”.
Short version: I was told by Phase One tech support that my DB needs a "focus adjustment" (to correct a "slight out of focus" issue) I'm looking to get that done.
Detailed version: I have been shooting film with this camera for a long time, with superb, result always, razor sharp images and great color,..just great results. I decided to add a digital back, and got this one from a friend very cheap. Overall, it works well enough, except that when I use the "focus indicator dot" to achieve proper focus, the focus of the captured image is slightly off (forward or back, not sure) and it is visible in the split prism through the viewfinder that’s it’s not quite in focus.
However, if I adjust the focus ring to achieve proper focus to my eye through the viewfinder, the "focus indicator has one of the triangles lit", indicating out of focus....but the captured image is "in focus".
So that's my story ha ha...sorry for the looong message.
I look forward to hearing from and getting your thoughts.
Thank you,
