Plaubel Makiflex Standard.

Thought I would show you guys my Plaubel Makiflex Standard, with 150mm F2.8 Schneider Xenotar, which I mounted on a Peco Jr recessed board. Also shown is the Plaubel Peco Jr Compendium Hood, and the 9x9 Plaubel Makiflex back, which puts a 9x9cm image onto 4x5" film. I'm using it with 4x5" spring-loaded Linhof holders.

Anybody else here interested in the Makiflex or the Pecoflex?

Makiflex Standard, 150mm F2.8 Schneider Xenotar @ F2.8, 1/60 handheld. 6x9cm Efke 100 cutfilm, in a Plaubel Makina single shot film holder. Processed in ADOX Borax MQ, scanned with my new Epson 4490 refurb.

I really like the 6x9 format.

Just Bought Another One.

Just won another one on German Ebay, looks really nice and clean!

Only 2500 shutter actuations, my other Auto Aperture Makiflex has 28,500 shutter actuations, a sort of slow shutter, and needs some bellows patching. Still love it, though. Both of my Makiflexes came from Stuttgart, owned by an old Portrait Photographer who roamed the streets, taking photos for money. On the back of one, was a paper drawing, done in old fountain pen ink. A sort of framing aid. Cool to know the history of it.

Can't wait to get it!

Anybody know what holders this Back takes?

A Graphic 4x5" film holder is too large. Plaubel listed the following in their catalog:

#97324 31/4x31/4 back for Single Slides 4x5" MX1/537
#97486 4x5" Univesal Holder for plates & sheetfilm SG1/377 (use with MX1/537)

Actual measured dimensions would be approximately 101mmx140mmx7mm for the single shot holder. Or maybe this back takes 9x12 sheetfilm?

Here are some photos. Can anybody tell me where I can find some holders for this back, so that I can use it? Thanks!

He he if this really takes a shine to you, Peter, its gonna cost ya! Thats the revenge of the machines! Its a large, heavy but very very impresive piece of kit.

If you bring this and the required large tripod noone will think you're not a Professional Photographer!

Another digiphoto of one of my Makiflex Automatics.

Makiflex Automatic #2, purchased in Germany. I have attached a flat black (modern) Plaubel lensboard, to which I have mounted a Durst Enlarger recessed lens cone. Finally, my barrel-mounted 120mm Rodenstock Imagon (also purchased in Germany) completes the setup. Focuses very nicely even back to infinity, due to the recess. And I do have the 150mm barrel-mounted Imagon, that I can also place on this board. Good to have a choice.

I now also have a 9x12cm Plaubel Makiflex back, and have found a good number of 9x12cm film sheaths that perfectly fit into the back.

Rear View of two Automatic Lenses-150mm & 210mm Xenars.

Here is a rear-view of my two Plaubel Automatic Makiflex lenses, so you can see the operating mechanisms. On the left, is the 150mm Schneider Xenar. On the right, is the 210mm Schneider Xenar (minus extension cone and board, it bayonets on and off).

On the 150 you can see the iris-cocking lever, about 7:00 o'clock orientation. About 4:00 o'clock you can see the lever that releases the spring-loaded iris, which happens a microsecond before the focal plane shutter fires. At about 11:00 there is a silver push-button, that manually closes the iris.

I just scored on Ebay somthing very rare. An original Plaubel Makiflex Film Back for 2.25"x3.25" Graflex-type Sheet Film Holders. It's a springloaded back with bail, for U.S. holders.

So, now I have a 9x9cm on 4x5" Makiflex Filmback, a 9x9cm on 9x12cm European Makiflex Back with a good number of 9x12cm singlesheet holders, and -two- of the 6x9cm Filmbacks for the Makiflex, which will take either Plaubel Makina Rollfilm Backs (have 6x6cm and 6x9cm) or the Single-Sheet 6x9cm Filmholders that also fit in the Plaubel Makina.

Sa-Weet. Can't wait to get it. Needs a groundglass. Great to have such a choice, and collectable, too.

9x9cm Image on Old Expired Type 52 Polaroid.

Makiflex Automatic Body with 150mm F4.5 Schneider Xenar Barrel lens.

Exposed at ISO 400, developed for Four Minutes instead of 20 Seconds.

Polaroid is such a HOOT with these Cameras. Amazing that there is an image to see at all.
I still have about a hundred sheets of Polaroid 52 to burn through my three Makiflexes.

OK Here's What Arrived Today.

A 2.25"x3.25" Makiflex Back with Bail, which takes Graphic-Type Sheet Filmholders, or Graflex Graphmatic 2x3 Film Magazines. Even still has the original Plaubel Metal Sticker with Makiflex Catalog number on it.

I've been looking for this accessory for as long as I've had these cameras, which has been a good while.

Just needs a 2x3 groundglass, and some Graphic Filmholders, and I'm good to go.
