Hi, folks...

It has been a long time since I last visited and I hope to be a regular in the future.

So, my interest is in platinum printing.

Living in the Atlanta area, I would like to get in touch with someone who can teach me how to do the process. Also, I would like to use a digital negative from a scanned negative but have no idea how to get this going.

Any help would be greatly recommended!

Dave- as to digital negatives, there are some good books out there on how to make digital negatives for pt/pd printing, but it's kind of off-topic for APUG, so I'll just point you to Amazon.com and Bostick & Sullivan for some tips in that direction. For the process itself, I teach it out of my studio in Washington DC. If you're interested, PM me and I can provide you with some more information as to dates and prices.

Hey, thanks, I will keep that trip in mind... will definitely check on the dates and prices.

The reason I mentioned a digital negative is I generally work with 35mm film with My Leica M3. I have a portrait from my S3 2000 that makes a nice 8x10 portrait and would like to see about getting it printed using Platinum...

Sandy King is in your area and does one on one workshops in Carbon and Platinum.

...and Sandy is a great teacher. I did my first Pd/Pt print with him up the first (and only) APUG conference.

You might want to see if others in your area are interested in a pt/pd workshop - raise question in the appropriate regional forum. If enough interest, you might be able to entice one of the pt/pd masters to conduct such a workshop. We in NE Florida did just that for a workshop at Daytona conducted by Tilman Crane. It was a very valuable experience.

Check this site web-site:

Great idea. We, on the RFF forum, are setting up an Atlanta Meet with a visit to the High Museum. Think I will run this by them!

Hey Dave, I've got Sandy's Carbon book and it is fine. I'm sure his plat./pal. instruction is just as good. As a side I'm in Athens and since I have a couple rangefinders would be interested in the High get together. PM me.
