Platinum Emulsion Transfer to Negative

Damn!!! I was printing some pt images this morning and the emulsion has adhered to the negative..... Is this negative now DOA or is there some way to resurrect it. Right now I have it in a warm water bath but the pt emulsion is being very obstinate.

I've done that myself. Damn is right. Sometimes a long soak in Hypo Clear will rid the neg of iron compounds. Once they've cooked on, though, they are pretty stubborn. And sometimes they reduce enough that you can see them on the neg, but they print through on printing. Good luck. Make sure you have reliable and consistent drying methods to prvent this. Some people advise printing with thin mylar between the neg and paper to avoid this which I think is ridiculous. In twenty years of printing it has happened to me once and why put anything between the neg and print for such an extraordinarily rare occurence. Anyway, good luck.

this happen more with ziatype and any DOp method using FAOx. But with traditionnal it is quite rare. It happen to me when I start printing Zia with A vacuum printer.
you could try to make it less dense by following the William advice put , But do it quick , longer you wait the harder it will be to clear it.

With ziatype it is quite hard as the emulsion Print out so you get a dark point.

I agree regarding the Zias...the price you pay for tone changes by humidification. Ruined a few myself to be sure. No matter the process, if you judge your emulsion to be only questionably dry, I would suggest Mylar just for the insurance.

I have only recently started printing Ziatypes and I do put the mylar between the neg and the paper, though I feel like the paper is dry.

The negative is definitely dead.... nothing is going to remove the pt. So much for upping contrast with an increase in humidity, won't be doing that again anytime soon.
