Hi,

I'm mounting some photographs and would like to store them in clear plastic sleeves/bags. Does anyone know where I can source something like "Crystal Clear Bags" in th UK? My mounted prints are 50cm by 60cm.
I have tried various googlings but haven't been able to find anything!

Cheers

Hello Simon

try here; http://www.conservation-by-design.co.uk/ringbind/ringbind5.html

They sell them in packs of 25 and they are far cheeper than Silverprint. They are a good company to deal with. The only problem is that they do a minimum order of £50 before vat, or charge an extra £5 on top of the order. The pack size you need is £44.00, but I am sure you will find something on the site to pad your order out.

Best

I had a look at the Silverprint bags - and are they expensive!! £120 for 50 - I can order 100 from the US for $43 + postage.

In all fairness, the bags and sleeves are very different products. The bags do look good for protecting mounted prints while the sleeves are more for folios.

I know a few people that use the Silverprint product for protecting mounted prints, and a fine job they do to.

I would offer the usual word of caution on imports, and that is to factor in posteage and duties when comparing prices. I've just paid duty on a lightweight item that I brought for £34 in the USA. Postage, VAT, and customs clearence charges have inflated this to £64 by the time I receive it.

The other two products certainly bear a second look though.
