Pinhole rigs have great DOF. It's often exploited in those beautiful warm, fuzzy landscapes they can produce.

If I'm not mistaken, though, that self-same DOF hasn't been put to work in pinhole macro work to any great extent. I'm going there with my trusty old 8x10. Should be an interesting trip.

You may be disappointed. Sharpness falls off rapidly when you move into the macro zone. It might work fine for a few subjects. Let us know how you fare.

I've played around with macro pinhole, using a 0.15mm pinhole on a camera with about 4 inch "focal" length. It can be a challenge to figure out the lighting when the subject is less than an inch from the pinhole and the shape of the camera is boxy or cylindrical.

I haven't scanned many of mine, but you can (there was a url link here which no longer exists). That's the negative, and the hypo crystals were about 1/4 inch or less from the pinhole. They were on a piece of glass lit from behind. Sort of like a "pinhole microscope"!

Have fun!

Approx 0.2mm pinhole a makro "selfie" using a mirror, many apologies for the M8 it was a quick test, I will be repeating on film ASAP, on a 111c :D this using a LTM/M bayonet adapter.

@ NedL:

Saw your linked photo of hypo xtals. The operative word for my reaction is 'impressed!'

Thanks for taking time to post.
