Pentax made a gold-plated version of the LX and 50mm f1.2 as a limited edition. The set included a pair of white cotton gloves to handle the camera with.

Also, didn't Vivitar make a batch of Series 1 lenses with gold plating?

Are they aware of the negative connotation associated with cameras we call by the the name "brick"?

You're right

That is obscene.

It's a gross display of wealth. Or a display of the lack of common sense. Maybe both?

Does it make it better

I am still gonna puke!

Does a pimped out Nikon or a $68 LV condom make it better? Are these items for the rich and the inadequate? Spend money to compensate for one's inadequaticies I guess.

I can understand the rich and tastless liking gold, but do they have to use endangered species for the leather?
My sister has a nice lamb-leather trenchcoat she got from Italy, it's the softest leather ever, and there are plenty of sheep to go around...

Yes, I have one: a 70-210 Series One zoom, complete with presentation wooden box. I'd include a photo of it but I'm in France and the lens is elsewhere.

I bought it in Belgium about a decade ago for little money, really -- more as a "look at this thing" purchase than to actually use in public.

Cameraquest has a short article about these lenses: https://www.cameraquest.com/vivgold.htm

Unlike the set as shown by Cameraquest, mine is a single lens in a box made to hold the one lens. There's a plaque on the box saying it was presented to the Belgian importer of Vivitar lenses, IIRC.

Hey Gold protects the eye from radioactive explosions so there is a use for this camera of course you would need a gold foil for your eyes in order not to get blind from this huge amount of bling

These sum of 77 gold units x $ 41.395 can pay for this.
