Me three. I registered this morning, and the room is already booked. I'm excited.

Hello!

Registrations for this year's Photostock are now open! What a terrific response so far! This is really shaping up to be a great year and I have to thank everyone that has signed up already.

Dead Link Removed - www.photostockfest.com

As mentioned in the newsletters, there is a special, early registration fee until May 1st, so I hope all that are thinking of coming will save some money and register before then.

I also hope you'll consider one of the workshops being offered. All workshop fees include your general registration, so if anyone that has already signed up wants to add a shop, your initial registration fee will be refunded. All workshops include the registration.

For workshops, we have the fantastic, Holly Roberts coming from New Mexico to teach an intensive, four-day class in photographic mixed media. Many of you will know of Holly's work with abstract painting and photography. This will be a great workshop for breaking out your inner creativity. Holly is world renowned and this is a unique opportunity to work with her in the north woods of Michigan this summer.

Holly Roberts Workshop - June 16-19

I'm also very pleased to announce that Dead Link Removed and Dead Link Removed will be coming from North Carolina and doing a workshop in Cyanotype Bookmaking this year. This will be a lot of fun for the more budget minded workshop attendees. A two-day workshop where you will be making cyanotype photograms and learning to bind them into a hand made, hard cover book. You'll not only have fun printing in a fun process, but you'll learn the basics of bookmaking that you can carry on to other projects.

Cyanotype Bookmaking with Eliot Dudik and Meg Griffiths - June 20-21

I hope you'll have a look and give them consideration, but most of all, I hope you can join us this June!

Best, Bill

Registered, reserved and excited to go, this is my third time trying to get there…. Third time is a charm right?

Shooting locations are on my mind while up there.
Since most of my favorite photographers are nomads (me, myself and I) I tend to roam and look for locations like farms, coast lines, cliffs, and rusting civilization. I really challenge myself when it comes to people photos. I am good with portraits and even environmental portraits but I am wondering if others who have visited the area before share some of their fine locations to shoot.

There's a great Map up on Google with some fantastic locations marked out: http://goo.gl/maps/v3yho

Hello!

Thank you all that have registered! It's great to see all the names coming for the gathering this year!
Just a quick note to say that the first official newsletter has gone out to all who have registered. I'll leave a link here as well, but if you haven't gotten it, it might be that it is being filtered on your end.

Newsletter#1

*Please keep in mind that the cost of basic registration goes up on May 1st! Don't miss the early, discounted registration if planning to come.

A few additions this year will be a 20 x 30 "circus" tent with optional sides in case of inclement weather that we won't be having. We'll also have a small PA system for presentations and discussions and will hold a lot of the scheduled activities right there under the big top. This will allow us to go past closing time on the main meeting facilities inside the hotel. We'll still utilize the birch forest, basement room as well. We've grown just a bit and will have to spread out, but it should be no problem.

That's it for now. Please stay tuned! I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone this year!

 Amateur ...

Will there be whiskey?

That brings back memories from last year when many glasses, and subsequently - bottles, of good bourbon and rye were evacuated into our bellies.

So much fun. There was quite a pile of empty bottles.

Sadly, I am going to have to back out again this year. I have a closet room booked at the Birchwood Inn and will be cancelling my reservation later today. Not sure if they have a waiting list, but just letting everyone know that there will be a room coming up soon.

Much as I tried in the end I can't justify making it to Photostock this year. Timing is against me as I've just moved house and it's still ongoing and I also have building work to get finished, plus I need to complete a new teaching darkroom.

Maybe next year, there's a few faces to meet and the Icelandic volcano meant the US/UK APUG meet in Cornwall had no-one from the US.

Would anyone be willing to find my name on the plaque of donators, and take a B&W film shot of it? It might be quite a while for me to see it in person. Lol

Mine will e one of the smallest ones... Lol

Please come in a few years, I'd like to meet you and am aging!!

I'll come sooner rather than later :D Finances are also against me this year as the building work and setting up the new darkroom seem to be open ended, and then I have to go to Turkey for my wedding Anniversary in 2-3 weeks. Life's not always simple.
