Jim LeMay has been kind enough to arrange a visit for all that want to go to Fort Michilmackinac for some shooting of the living museum and people that play their part there. Entrance fee would be waived, but they have commercial restrictions and also request that any images made there be available for their use in return. I know this may be an issue for folks and I don't want it to become a big deal right now, I just want to put it out there to see what interest there is. If enough folks want to go, we'll set-up a time and organize a detail to get people up there

I'm game for this and perfectly cool with the fort using my images. Being in the reenactment hobby myself and with it being the BiCentenial year and Fort Michilmackinac being the site of one of the first engagements in the War of 1812...I was hoping to get out to it while I'm in the area!

Back and at work on things. Really excited to read the news of those coming and that everyone is finding somewhere to stay. Great to see that Cody is coming! And it is great news from Silke and Dan about Andrew Moore! Pretty controversial guy around my parts and it will be great to meet him if he makes it.

If you've registered, you should have just received another newsletter... nothing big, just telling you I'm on it. Jeff and Eva have kindly offered to handle the print exchange. Jeff already mentioned that and details will be coming. Just make sure to bring a finished print to exchange and you'll be in.

I'm hearing that hotels are filling up. This is great news for everyone up there, but I want to make sure no one gets shut out. Great to hear that Vinny's folks place is getting used and there are others as well. I will look into other properties that people can share if need be. Let me know if you're having a hard time.

That's it from me for now. Look for more as I have it. If anyone missed the Newsletter, a link is here. If you did miss it and registered, either your email is wrong as registered or I'm being filtered.

I'm very happy that I'm gong to make it back to photostock for the first time since 2008. I'll be at the Birchwood Tuesday - Thursday, but exiled to Petoskey for Friday and Saturday. I'm looking forward to it!

Mark

Ok, letter sent to all interested in doing a demo or presentation. If I've talked to you about this and you don't get one. Let me know.

Yet another update...

Thanks to Dan and Silke, we will have a model on hand for people to work with on a scheduled basis. There is a fee involved with this and the procedure will be outlined in the next newsletter. The model will be available for 1 hour blocks of time and the schedule will be limited.

Also, thanks to Dan, I've been in contact with Andrew Moore of "Detroit Disassembled" fame. He is in fact coming this year and has graciously agreed to do one of our informal presentations. I'll let you know more as it develops, but I hope you'll join me in a big photostock welcome for Andrew. It will be a treat to have him.

I'm also pleased to announce that our very own Suzanne Revy will be giving a presentation this year as well. Finally meeting Suzanne after all these years is going to be a thrill for me, not to mention seeing her wonderful body of work. I know a lot of us have never had the chance and it will be great t have her here this year.

To top it all off, there will be demonstrations from Mark Fisher on his experiences with lith printing, a pin-up shooting demo led by James Mullineaux as well as demos in the wet plate and polymer photogravure processes. Several other surprises are in the works as well so stay tuned. Another newsletter will be going out soon to all who have registered. If not registered you can do it Dead Link Removed.

Thanks!

Just a note to say that I've worked out a 40% discount with Andrew Moore's book distributor on copies of Detroit Disassembled. They would have to be pre-ordered for this discount and I will have to get a count soon. I'll soon send out a newsletter to all who have registered and in it will be a way to order a copy. I'll have them at the event so that you can have them signed.

Any cyclists? A classic ride from The Birchwood up to Legs and back.

30 days left to go before I depart for photostock. I'm looking forward to this!

I will be their this year for sure. I will camping out at the state park. I also plan to bring a friend, We shoot large format, as well as others. The moose is still on the loose in upper land!

Fort Michilmackinac photos shoot. This sound good Bill. Meet at the Birchwood Inn on June 22 at 9:00am then drive to Fort Michilmackinac take photos at the Fort till 1:00 ish and them drive back to Birchwood Inn.

Thanks Jim

Lith Printers:

I'll be giving a lith talk on Sat PM and I'd like to have it be more than a boring middle aged guy going through powerpoint slides. I'd appreciate it if the experienced (or less experienced) lith printers could bring some images to show . The huge variety of techniques and materials means that there are a lot of different looks possible and I definitely can't show them all. I'm hoping to give a basic introduction then have the session be a bit of a sharing of what works for folks and what doesn't......and show a bunch of prints. Much more interactive, much less boring. Please PM me if you are interested. There are a few of you out there.....don't make me find you

Thanks -- Mark

That works great for me!

12 days of work left for me!

Hey folks! We're on short time now!

Sorry to be slow with the schedule, but I almost have it all worked out. Rather than wait for it, I thought it best to get the Andrew Moore book offer out there. If you've registered, you should have an email in your box by the end of the day. If interested and not yet registered, do it quick as this will be a pretty limited offer. I have to get the order in this week for the books to be there for the gathering.

I've been hearing privately from a lot of people and am really thrilled at all that are coming this year!

Thanks and stay tuned!

Speaking of short time, Isn't it about time to make sure the Oberon's on ice? :whistling:

Can't wait for this year's gathering. I'm bringing along my brother in law, who is dusting off a film body just for the occasion.

I'm getting a nice response on the the orders of Andrew Moore's book. Thanks for acting fast, folks! I'm going to place the order Friday, so if interested, get going!

Camping At State Park?

Is there an area at the State Park where people are concentrating their camps? I've had a request from someone camping that wants to know where to make reservations.

Thanks!

Will be interested in learning about lith printing and I think Bill will also. We will camping out at Petoski state Park. Dune area lot 13. Anyone else staying in the area.

I'll be camping too. I haven't made a reservation yet but was hoping to find a spot near some other Photostock folks. Have you stayed at Petoskey S.P. before? I haven't been there before and don't know what sites are good or bad.
