Sorry that I won't be able to join y'all this year. I've got a virus or something; you wouldn't want me to be sharing quite this much, I think. Have a good time, everyone, and pour a cold one for me!

Mike

Man... What a great time I had... even with my messed up back. Shelby, Kerik, Ike, Joe, Sandy and EVERYONE... it was a pleasure to have you all around here this week. I can't believe it is almost over. Sitting here in the house alone after Shelby's presentation and dinner at the Whitecaps and it is so.... quiet. It's going to take awhile to absorb it all.

Thanks again everyone! You all made it the best year yet. Time for my meds and bed.

thank you bill for another great 'photostock'. it was great to see familiar folks again, meet new ones, see everyones incredible portfolios, travel the countryside, and meet and listen to shelby lee adams....his presentation last night was SO interesting and a great addition to the event...

i do hope you are feeling better and that your back improves by leaps and bounds.

i can't wait to find a way to tell michael ray johnston that i had my portrait done by you, with HIS old camera! what a small small world.

Bummer! I am traveling around the US right now and remembered "doesn't Bill have a get together every JULY?" Came here today to find out and it is already over with! It would have been great to meet the attendees. I wish I would have seen this sooner. Oh well.

Thanks again Bill for arranging this. The wet plate workshop was great, and the whole event will likely be the highlight of our summer. We've got at least 20 rolls and countless sheets of film to process now.

Good to see everyone again, and meet new friends. Can't wait for next year!

... and I can't wait to see Marianne's new Paladium prints next year.

Thanks to all who worked so hard to make Photostock an event to remember. It was great to meet Keric, and it was inspiring to see Shelby's slides and to hear his portfolio critiques. I'm sorry I missed Sandy. (I blame my boss... he he) The portfolio sharing and resulting print exchange were high points for me. (I walked away with an wonderful Travis Nunn infrared print and a super Jeff and Eva special. Thanks to each of you.) This was the first time my own prints have been viewed by a discerning audience, and I appreciate the encouragement that people showed me, especially with my coffee prints.

Of course, none of this could have come to pass without Bill's tireless effort. Bad back and all, Bill was busier than the Energizer Bunny all weekend. Thank you, Bill... thank you.

It was wonderful to see old friends again, and to meet new friends brougth together through the love of good photography.

I can't wait till next year!

Cheers,

Well, I'm mighty sorry I missed this year's Photostock, and I'm determined to make it next year.

Sounds like, by all accounts, as if this year's endeavor was really awesome. I can't wait to hear the stories and see all the resulting photographs.

I'm actually still up here (driving back tomorrow), but I wanted to say I had a great time. The print exchange and portfolio sharing were great. Hearing Shelby's comments on some portfolios was very educational and his talk was fantastic. I don't know how Bill did as much as he did with his back - take it easy and heal, Bill!
I haven't counted the number of rolls I have to develop, but I think I used most of the sheet film I had loaded. I'll have to come back again, as it was sunny at O'Neal lake and I wanted clouds. Can't wait!

I left just before Shelby's presentation, drove through the night and got back to Richmond just before noon today. I, too, really enjoyed seeing everyone's prints and exchanging prints with others.

The best part of all was meeting lots of new people, making some new friendships and seeing some old friends as well. This really was a great time!

Thanks to Bill most of all. You really did a superb job!

It was a great event and the workshop leaders should be commended for the great job they did and the generous way they did mini-seminars for the non-workshop participants (yeah, I'll fix that next year). It was great to put faces to names and see all the great work people are doing. I'm thinking I may just have to give gum over Pt a try after seeing Kerik's and Ike's work! Hopefully I'll be posting some images in a week or so.

Lastly, Bill deserves an amazing round of applause. It was a hard thing to put together and run.....and with a bum back, it had to be really tough. Take the time to heal, Bill!

If anyone has contact info for the two women in this photo, could you please PM me with it? I made a few ambrotypes of the mother on her birthday Saturday during a wetplate demo and I'd like to mail the plates to them once the processing is finished. Any help in contacting them would be appreciated as I did not get their names.

Thanks,

Joe

Joe,

That's Chris and her mother is Angie. I'll send you a PM with her email address.

What a wonderful week. The workshops were great and I was on a lucky streak; I drew Chris Pratt's wonderful photograph in the print exchange and won Sheby's book!

It was great to see old friends and meet new ones.

Thank you Bill for a great event and I hope your feeling better soon.
Ike

As Ike said it was great to see some old friends and meet some new ones. I only made to a few
of the events but still managed to meet some new friends.
As usual it was a great event.
Thanks Bill.

Jerry

An incredible week!! I got to meet lots of new friends, catch up with many good friends, share some stories over bourbon and beers, listen to Steve and Dan play some tunes, and see some very beautiful prints. All I can say about the prints everyone shared on Saturday is WOW! This event was the highlight of my year!

The workshops were awesome! Ike and Kerik thank you for all of the information you both shared throughout the event. For us beginners, seeing these two work the digital negative, platinum printing and wet plate processes was amazing. The carbon workshop with Sandy was indescribable! Thank you Sandy for sharing with us your carbon prints and years of carbon printing knowledge. Left me breathless!

Bill, as many have said, Thank You for your tireless efforts in making this year unforgettable. We may never know just how many hours you spent pulling Photostock 2009 together. Unfortunately we know how much back pain you can take I sure hope it gets better quickly.

Best wishes to everyone and hopefully I'll get to experience 2010!

Ditto what everyone has said so far. It was a great event with many things on the agenda this time. Kudos to Bill who worked many hours to get things arranged and who made sure everything was running correctly even though he suffered with his back throughout the event. What a great group of folks all of you are! Cannot wait to see the images of all the different interpretations of this wonderful area. Also thanks to Ike and Kerik for really expalining the palladium process. I think it maybe in my future!! I cannot wait until Next year.A.

I'm back in Cali trying to get back into the Pacific Time Zone. What a great week!! A busy, busy week for sure, but it was a great time. So nice to finally meet many APUGers for the first time. Bill has a great thing going on and I'm lucky to be a part of it. I'm expecting next year will be even better with more workshops, tours, and good times. I especially enjoyed spending time with Andy, Daniel Lin, Jeff and Eva, Steve Zimmerman (one FUNNY dude with serious guitar skills), Cody, Travis, Chris Pratt, Paul Armstrong, Bob Carnie, etc. And big thanks to those of you who helped schlep stuff back and forth without even being asked. There is definitely a great community spirit surrounding this event that makes the name Photostock seem so appropriate. There were lots of wonderful prints to see - I've been a fan of Andy and Daniel's work for years so it was a treat to finally see them in person. The best non-photo tip I learned was from Travis: Repel Eucalyptus/lemon oil mosquito repellent. Deet free and it really works! Unfortunately, there were a couple times I didn't put it on when shooting by the lake and I'm still itching... But I hear Bill is going to have all the mosquitoes removed by next year! Also BIG thanks to Ike for teaching with me and surviving the Schwab Sweat Lodge Darkroom And of course thanks to Bill having the tenacity and kinetic nature to make it all happen. I hope you're feeling better soon. Your pain gave a whole new meaning to the phrase "I got your back, buddy".

Oh, and Shelby was a great addition to the scene. He gave insightful comments to those who were lucky enough to get their prints in front of him and his presentation saturday night was certainly enlightening. Finally, kudos to Dave Boutette a very talented singer/songwriter friend of Bill's who played a great set of tunes prior to Shelby's presentation.

I've already got Photostock 2010 on my calendar...
