why do you use that particular mono conversion?

why so many layers and curves?

Ray, I'm using the plug-in because it is really, really easy to use (very visual) and it was given to me free. If wasn't using the plug-in I'd use the channel mixer method w/ hue&saturation.

The reason I used so many curves is that I did all of the editing on a laptop touchpad and wanted to avoid the "painting" action as much as possible.
