If you have never attended Photokina, it's an event that you should add to your bucket list.

I attended my first Photokina in 1984 and plan to be there this year.

Since my GF has other commitments and can't attend, I would like to travel with or meet some APUG members.

There are two side trips I have on my list: one is a visit to Leica Park in Wetzlar, where Leica has recently re-located their main factory.
The second side trip is to Munich, where Oktoberfest begins on September 20.

If you're interested kindly email me:

At Leica park , all binoculars are free to try , dont forget to invest one , leica bins and microscope lenses are light year better than camera lenses , dont forget to visit weekend street sellers , you can buy tons of cameras for few ten guldens.

Mustafa:

Where are these "weekend street sellers" ?
What are "guldens"?

I think he means "flea markets"
Gulden was the former Dutch currency, now EURO.
Is this correct, Mustafa?

I guess Umut refers to open air fleamarkets (typically on parking lots) in all towns.

In the 90s there was a 2nd hand dealer (Mr Cad) at Photokina. Seemed to be a one-time show or so.
I bought a Super Angulon 1:8 there.

At the business, not at the fair.

Ah, yes!

At the Photokina traditionally there are photo exhibitions on the fair compound. Here is a listing (as far as I can see all require entrance to the fair):

Also since many years there are a lot of art photography exhibitions taking place all over town during the Photokina under the designation Photoszene Köln. A listing of the exhibitions will be published soon here:

The "one-time show" has been at it for over 50 years.

Yes 10 minutes walk from Victoria Coach (bus) station.

There are normally two stalls with cameras in Spitalfields antique market on Thursdays. Only one on Sunday.

And several in or off Brick Lane Mkt at weekends.

eg
Retitled
Dead Link Removed
which has girly clothing to distract partner while you buy another camera.

Some in CamdenRd Mkt

Thanks for all the info...now I have more stops to make at Photokina.
Is anyone else planning to attend?

Only Cologne is in Germany so that would make it the currency formerly known as Deutsche Mark

Holland had Dutch Guilders.

There will be 72 exhibitions within the Photoszene Festival.

I just bought my tickets to Photokina. They are "open" tickets, which allow for entrance on any two days. If any APUG members will be there and would like to meet, kindly PM me.

I'm meeting another member for a beer near the Dom on Friday evening 8:00.
If anyone else would like to join us, kindly email me for details.
See you at the Fair.
