Before some beautiful friendships are destroyed, doesn't #36 make further comments unnecessary?

I'm actually a 5* bartender at the moment, but I'm not working all the time

You're in. Its a bit of a stereotype but for a while it seemed that every young bartender was Australian and yet they need a visa, you don't. One 100% true stereotype about the British is we do indeed like a drink.

dont worry about getting a job in photography -come get a job (quality bar people are a rare commodity here if nothing else) - check the scene out and see - no experience is a waste. Hottest photographers here at minute is probably AM Projects and they are from everywhere. You are coming from somewhere else so you can see UK with fresh different eyes - as a photographer thats your advantage - its up to you and yr enlarger whether you can capitalise on it.

flipside is that last gomma grant i think went to a project in Italy, and one of hottest photobooks last year was Islam in Italy so if these people are rolling in Italy why arent you?

#36 was a comment on brexit
Ah, I took you literally when you said you had decided to stay at home. I admit I was a little puzzled about the next comment about moving to S Ireland but took that to mean that home was anywhere in the EU. I had thought that this ruled out coming to the U.K as we have invoked Article 50.

Anyway whatever you decide to do, best of luck

It's very difficult to find openings here in the UK, there's a lot more competitive for work, and then there's a lot of students coming out of the photography degree courses every Summer.

Darkrooms are closing down so setting up new in a shrinking market is difficult, you'd need to do a lot of research. A friend of mine worked in London for a while then moved to Amsterdam where he found much more work. Remember photographers from all around the world flock to try and make it in London Few succed.

Another friend has just taken redundancy, he worked for Getty Images shooting celebrities in London, essentially though a paparazzi photographer, he was glad to give it up. Don't assume it's better here than Italy, last time I was in Greece I visited a thriving family run studio and yet Greece is supposed to be in crisis.
