Hi Everyone,

I will be spending three weeks in Greece this summer in late June into July. I will be staying in Thessaloniki and hoping to do some analog photography most days while I'm there. I'm flying from the US, and I would rather get film and develop it in Greece so I don't have to worry about traveling with undeveloped film.

I'm posting to see if any one has a contact or information about film photography in Thessaloniki? Perhaps a camera shop that sells and/or processes film. I typically shoot black and white 35mm. Would love to connect with a fellow film shooter while I'm there.

Thanks!

From price point, it would be much cheaper to buy and develop film in USA. It's pretty expensive outside of USA and Japan.
Also Xraying film is a non-issue unless you have iso 3200 with you. I went to Nepal and had my film go through 8 xrays and there were no issues.

A very good friend of mine runs one of the most active creative photography groups in Thessaloniki. I can get you in touch with him. He'll know if and where you can find film there and he'll most probably provide you with what's necessary to process it.

For buying and developing B&W film in Thessaloniki there are many stores, but AFAIK these are the biggest ones:

Repellas:address Aristotelous 28, repella@otenet.gr, tel +302310 231732 , http://www.repella.gr/fotografika/index.php?option=com_content&view=featured&Itemid=469

Kogxylakis: address Venizelou 42, info@photoqueen.gr ,+302310 261771 / 2310 234842, http://photoqueen.gr/index.php?route=common/home

Unfortunately the sites are in Greek so i am not sure how much hep it would be. in any xase the are both down town in very central part of Thessaloniki and not more than 5 min walking between them so it would be easy to find with a map and asking around.

Personally I go to the first one, but either is fine I think. They both do B&W film but they may need a few days to gather a number of films before going to the darkroom.

Available films found around here, are mainly Kodak (Tmax 100/400, Tri-X 400, chromogenic) and Ilford (FP4 PLUS, HP5 PLUS), and Agfa. If you are looking for high ASA film you may or may not find it.

If you have any questions feel free to ask either here in the thread, or by p.m.

Hope this helps

I have been many times to Thessaloniki so I hope I can help you.

Repellas has some good prices on film but I don't know if they can develop your films.
Kogxylakis is an old photographer with many years of repairing cameras and I know for sure you can develop your films there, both color and BW. The prices for films are a bit expensive though.

There are some more photography stores near them where you can probably find some films for sale, but expect limited options.

Also keep in mind that in the middle of the summer, there will be plenty of light to shoot outdoors. You can buy some slow films and you will sure use them with no problem.

Enjoy your visit, as I am sure you will have a great time.
