There was a magician in 90's Japan who took Polaroids of the moving hand of a clock. Of course he used a slow shutter speed. The crowd was awed by the disappearing second hand!

Even though I understand what makes analog photography work (well enough, I guess), I still cannot shake that feelingI had when I first saw the image slowly appear in the developer tray way back when I was seven years old. It was magic then, and it sure seems like it now.

I witness it everyday with my photo kids. The look on their faces as the image appears, IS magic... of course there are still a few of them who just don't get it, and think digital is more magical...(I think it's because they can work from their butts, and look at their phones at the same time

But digital printout is also magical. You put a single blank photo paper in one end and then a few seconds later, a full-color print comes out the other side. That's pretty magical too.

Yeah! I've wanted to try inkjet printing for a long time. I am a little scared of the price of admission and the steep learning curve associated with digital printing. But, yes, it must seem like magic for the beautiful print to be slowly emerging from the printer.

Try it. You can get a Canon photo printer for less than $200 that prints 8 1/2 x 11", and some under $100. The inks are what costs but I think they have bigger reserves. YOu can use it for letter printing as well in BW but BW photos don;t comes out as good unless you get the more expensive printers. Other may have more information on this as I've been away from it for years.

It may have happened already.
the true magic of digital printing, is if you use HP printers,, that you can remember the password to the printing software in under an hour.. or if you remember what you wanted to do once you were able to print.
Or one can say the true magic is if the HP printer SUPPORTS a standard photo paper size
