Photography themed tattoo.
Photograph of a Ship.
.....If you havent 4000 dollars at your pocket , dont try it......
get a negative and tape it to your arm or wherever you want your tattoo ..
and go to a tanning salon ... you can have a non permanent tattoo of you favorite
negative ...
Or get a tatoo of the back of a view camera. That way, when the skin sags you can say you are applying movements to change the percieved perspective.
Jimmy Buffett describes this as a "permanent reminder of a temporary feeling."
Tattoos are cool now, but in a few years they won't be.
I delayed getting one for a long time because of something like this sentiment---it's something Other People do, it's a Trend, the Trend Will Pass. Eventually I decided that "everyone else is doing it" was a bad reason *not* to do something, for the exact same reasons that it's a bad reason *to* do something, and I went out and got the tattoo I'd been saying I wasn't going to get.
They are permanent. The kids you're not currently thinking about having, should you eventually have them, will want to know about them. The coroner probably won't care, but will see them. Before you get something permanent done to your body, reconcile yourself to things like that.
All that said, there are lots of directions to take the broad concept of "photography" in. Chemistry: I'd be astonished if there aren't people out there with tattoos of the pyro molecule. Optics: lens cross-sections. Commercial history: I wouldn't want a "branded" tattoo personally, but some people are so bonded to a specific manufacturer that they would. The idea someone posted of a negative with the sprocket holes is cute---it doesn't work well for MF shooters, but LF people could include the notch code.
IMHO, chew over a lot of ideas, let your subconscious work on it, and wait a good long time to pull the trigger. (I've always waited until I looked in the mirror and felt like something was *missing*.)
