As mentioned in another thread, I have the hubby type who has worked hard (5 minutes worth) to put together a data base for me. It will catagorise the various types of products/services available to photographers around the world. When you travel some of the questions that arise is: Will I be able to obtain my tpe of film at that location? What if my camera breaks in Katmundu where do I get it repaired? Are there rental darkrooms in Costa rica? The list goes on. As Philldresser has suggested, instead of me slowly going to people to get their information about their location, and entering it all myself, I need people who woule volunteer for their respective location and use a template I would supply to enter the data. this then can be incorporated into the main data base and more quicly become available to all.

It will be available on the Emulsion Magazine site, which Sean is linking directly to apug. It will help both sites attract more people.

Emulsion magazine-I looked it up and couldn't find it.Is there an actual website or something in the works?

Nice idea Aggie. With the retreat of the Kodak Empire, those distinctive yellow signs may disappear from likes of Katmandu and Tangiers. Good Luck!

very cool logo, Aggie! I'd be happy to help out here! I'll put something in the regional area & gather the info from around the state.

Happy to help out Aggie

Send me the template and I will gladly fill out sources for camera and film in Mexico City. Sadly, there is not much outside of Mexico City in regards to film other than 35 mm and 120 but I will gladly provide those too.

I think I've already volunteered... that right?

Aggie, I have already started compiling a list for you. Do you want it when I'm finished, or just go ahead and send it in parts? The ones I have written down so far were with pencil and paper (analog ), but can easily type them up for you.

Aggie

Or what I call digital, stylus, parchment interface :-]

By the time I had switched computers to the one with the data base template, my hubby had gone to bed. I'll get the template info from him in the AM then send it out to everyone. I'll have complete instructions, and what I am looking for. This should make it easier for you Jermey, you only have to enter the data via the computer and send it back. At this rate we should have it up and running in a short time. Yes Pgil and Fintan, you both can cover your respective countries. I'm sure as this gets going there will be little revisions as more places are found.

It's also been suggested to have something like a rating system. Or just a comment section about the place/service.

Aggie,

I must have missed something, is "Emulsion" the name you settled on for the APUG mag? If so, do I get a fee inaugural copy for suggesting the name?

(there was a url link here which no longer exists)

Only kidding, of course. I'll subscribe for sure.

If the magazine is anywhere near as cool as the title and logo, it'll be the kind of magazine (like National Geographic) that no one will ever throw away!! I may have to add a set of heavy duty shelves just to house them for posterity. Who did the graphic design if I may ask?

If you need any assistance for the Greek market, I'll be glad to assist.

Norway reporting for duty!

Per Volquartz did the logo.

All of you who have volunteered, just send me a PM with your email address and I will send you the template. One quick notice, I will be gone most of this afternoon and evening, picking up a New Zealander who is arriving. (Yep Livemoa, James is almost here) My habits though will have me on late into the night, so i will get the template to all who respond by late evening.
